New darkwave group O. Children present eponymous debut next weekPosted on 28/10/10
Imagine turning up to a gig to find a 20-year-old, black guy in a tiny leather jacket and hood singing a perfect blend of Joy Division and The Cure with that Editors-like edge. Won't you be stunned? Well, O. Children has a black singer and brings the darkwave blend we've just described. Their label, Deadly People, saw them at a gig back in February 2009 and were signed five minutes after they finished their set. Honestly, you have to be rather retarded if you wouldn't do the same being a label boss (though, we think that the "five minutes" part of the story might be more a fairy tale).
Order their album "O. Children" right here for UK Pound 4.99!
The album was recorded at the British countryside together with Barny Barnicott, once Miloco Studios' in-house engineer and who worked with acts such as Elastica, Queen Adreena, Super Furry Animals and Coldplay. Since going freelance in 2002, he has been engineering and mixing alongside Jim Abbiss, working with acts such as The Music, Placebo, Suede, UNKLE, Ambulance Ltd, Honeymoon Machine, Kasabian, Ladytron, Broken Dolls and - surprise surprise - The Editors.

The band has sold out venues across the UK, claimed loyal fans at BBC Radio 1 and have played a stream of festivals, including Glastonbury, Bestival, Latitude and Lovebox. O. Children are Tobi O'Kandi (vocals), Andi Sleath (drums), Gauthier Ajarrista (guitar) and Harry James (bass).
Here's the video for O. Children's "Dead Disco Dancer". We were convinced. But the question is, are you?
