PIG – Hurt People Hurt ( Digital/CD Album – Metropolis / Armalyte Industries / Pig Industries / Blue Noise)

Veteran Raymond Watts has continued to reinvent himself for nearly four decades, and this year he returned with the new full-length album “Hurt People Hurt”, delivering ten powerful new tracks.
“Hurt People Hurt” sounds exactly as we’ve come to expect from PIG: hard-hitting and relentless, yet always crafted with sophistication and an undeniable sense of melody. The songs are driven by menacing guitars that effortlessly bridge the worlds of Industrial and Metal, while Electronic textures add depth, atmosphere, and an occasional touch of accessibility. One of PIG’s greatest strengths has always been its choruses, and this album is no exception. They are bold, infectious, and anthemic—made to be sung, shouted, danced, and jumped along to.
To my ears, PIG still shares a sonic kinship with KMFDM, although fans of Marilyn Manson will undoubtedly find plenty to appreciate here as well. Yet Raymond Watts has always maintained his own unmistakable identity, balancing aggression and provocation with theatrical flair and memorable songwriting.
“Hurt People Hurt” is an outstanding album packed with consistently strong material. There isn’t a weak moment to be found, making it genuinely difficult to single out a favorite track. Respect! (Rating:8½).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
The donations are safely powered by Paypal.
