Kill Instinct
Kill Instinct will release “Control (Apoptygma Berzerk Remix)” on July 3, 2026 through their own label, Freak Power. The track is a rework by Stephan Groth (Apoptygma Berzerk) of “Control”, a song from the Toronto electro-industrial duo’s second album. Kill Instinct consists of Phil Gonzo and Lea Ashley.
“Control” is one of the tracks from Kill Instinct’s album that the duo introduced earlier in 2026 as “Kill Two: Behavioral Sink”. In a statement, the band described the Apoptygma Berzerk collaboration like this: “We always knew Stephan would bring something special to ‘Control,’ but the final result is truly mind-blowing. He has a way of honoring the roots of the original track while completely reinventing the sound in a way that feels entirely fresh.”
Kill Instinct release their music through Freak Power, the label they run themselves. The duo’s catalogue is available through their Bandcamp.
Below is the original version of the track.
About Kill Instinct
Kill Instinct is a Toronto electro-industrial duo of Phil Gonzo and Lea Ashley, bringing a mix of industrial, EBM and darkwave. The project’s debut full-length, the eight-track digital album “Kill. One”, was released on February 27, 2025, with a tracklist that included “Funerals”, “Parasocial”, “Grip (Tighter)”, “BIG”, “King of Kings”, “Lovers”, “False Deities” and “Paradise”.
A run of remixes and standalone tracks followed, among them “Parasocial (Svjet Zéro Remix)” in May 2025, “Paradise (Vakhtang Remix)” in July 2025, “BIG (Jalex Remix)” and “Funeral Stripper” in October 2025, and “Funeral Stripper (Night Version)” in January 2026. Outside the project, Phil Gonzo has contributed remix work for Matte Blvck.
In April 2026 the duo began the rollout for their second LP, Kill Two: Behavioral Sink, a 12-track album that draws on John B. Calhoun’s “behavioral sink” concept and the “Universe 25” experiments, led by the single “Ignore the Static”. “Control (Apoptygma Berzerk Remix)” follows ahead of the full album release.
