Side-Line (“Side-Line,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) publishes the music news website located at side-line.com (the “Site”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit or use the Site, how we use it, and the choices available to you. It applies to side-line.com and does not cover third-party sites we link to.
Information we collect
We collect information in a few different ways:
- Information you provide directly. If you contact us (including via info@side-line.com or stef@side-line.com), subscribe to the Side-Line newsletter, sign up for web push notifications, submit a comment, or send us press material, releases, or images for coverage, we collect the information you choose to give us – typically your name, email address, and the content of your message or submission.
- Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site uses cookies and similar technologies (via a cookie-consent tool that lets you set your preferences) and analytics services to understand how the Site is used. This may include your IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, referring site, and approximate location derived from your IP address.
- Push notifications. If you opt in to browser push notifications, our notification provider stores a subscription token tied to your browser so we can deliver news alerts. You can withdraw this permission at any time in your browser settings.
- Payment-related information. If you place an order (e.g. advertising, sponsorship, or a donation), payment is handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store your full card details ourselves.
How we use your information
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- To respond to your inquiries, review submissions, or advertising/sponsorship requests;
- To send newsletters or push notifications you have opted in to, and to let you unsubscribe from them;
- To understand aggregate usage of the Site through analytics, so we can improve content and performance;
- To detect, prevent, and address technical issues, spam, or abuse;
- To comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and advertising
The Site uses cookies for core functionality, analytics, and – where you have consented via our cookie-preference tool – advertising. Some pages on the Site include advertising or affiliate links, including links related to our Casino News and Crypto News sections; these placements may be provided by third-party advertising or affiliate networks that use their own cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. We do not control those third parties’ cookies directly; please refer to their own privacy policies for details. You can manage or withdraw cookie consent at any time through the cookie-preference banner/link on the Site, or through your browser settings.
Sharing of information
We share information only with:
- Service providers who help us run the Site (e.g. hosting, analytics, email/newsletter delivery, push-notification delivery, payment processing for donations/advertising), acting on our instructions;
- Advertising and affiliate partners, only to the extent your cookie consent allows;
- Authorities, where required by law or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
Data retention
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described above – for example, newsletter and push-notification data for as long as you remain subscribed, and email correspondence for as long as reasonably necessary to handle the matter it relates to.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal information, including the right to access, correct, delete, or export it, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent (such as unsubscribing from the newsletter or push notifications) at any time. EU/EEA and UK residents have these rights under the GDPR/UK GDPR; residents of other regions (such as California) may have comparable rights under local law. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at info@side-line.com.
Children’s privacy
The Site is a general-audience music news publication and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@side-line.com and we will remove it.
International visitors
The Site is published from Belgium and read by visitors around the world. By using the Site, you understand that your information may be processed and stored in Belgium/the EU and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised. Continued use of the Site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
