About Tanzwut

Tanzwut is a German medieval rock band formed in Berlin in the late 1990s as an offshoot of the medieval music group Corvus Corax. The band pairs bagpipes and shawms with punk and heavy-rock guitars, a style tied to the German Mittelalter-Rock scene. Singer and bagpiper Mike “Teufel” Paulenz has fronted the project throughout its run.

They released their self-titled debut in 1999 and built a long discography, including “Schattenreiter” (2006), “Höllenfahrt” (2013), “Schreib es mit Blut” (2016), “Die Tanzwut kehrt zurück” (2021) and “Achtung, Mensch!” (2024). The current line-up is Teufel (vocals, bagpipe), Robin Hund (guitar), Der Zwilling (bass), Shumon (drums), Pyro and Manu (bagpipes) and Alexius (keyboard). With “Rosenkrieg,” the band previews “Herz aus Stein,” their album due September 4, 2026.
