Pygmy Children release ‘Proof in Lies’, lead single from ‘Into The Silence’

Baltimore electro-industrial duo Pygmy Children released “Proof in Lies” on 21 August 2026 through Re:Mission Entertainment. The digital single carries two versions of the track, a short mix running 4:37 and a long mix running 6:42, and is the lead single from the brothers’ forthcoming fifth studio album “Into The Silence”.
Pete Roper wrote the words and music. He and his brother Brian Roper produced and mixed the single, Jeff Mortimer mastered it, and Brian Roper made the cover art. The download is offered in MP3, FLAC and 24-bit/44.1 kHz.
The song began with a notebook rather than a session. Pete Roper described the starting point as a set of lyrics he had abandoned years earlier: “I rediscovered some old lyrics in a notebook for a track that had never fully materialized. I still remembered the original chord progression, so I rewrote the lyrics, recorded the initial drum tracks, and the project began to take shape.”

The accompanying video sets live performance footage against public-domain animation produced in the 1940s, recut by the duo and layered with original visual effects. Pete Roper set out what the assembled imagery is about:
“The imagery in the video challenges our blurred perception of the boundary between reality and fantasy as we move through life increasingly disconnected from one another, following established paths without question and becoming desensitized to experiences beyond ourselves. The social acceptance of violence as a form of entertainment also emerges as a recurring theme. Finally, the unanswered question of what the recurring mysterious character possesses invites deeper interpretation.”
No release date has been announced for “Into The Silence”.
About Pygmy Children
Pygmy Children are an electro-industrial duo from Baltimore, Maryland, made up of brothers Pete and Brian Roper. Pete Roper started on drums at fifteen and played in a speed metal band; Brian Roper began remixing that material on tape decks, and the project grew out of those experiments.
The duo issued the “Face Down” EP in 1993 and the album “Malignant” in 1994 through No Name No Slogan, then signed to Cleopatra Records in 1995 for “Deconstruct”. A fourth release, “Low Life Dream”, followed in 1998 through the German label Out Of Line, with production input from George of Urania. Output stopped after that, and Pete Roper stated around 2005 that the project was over.
The duo returned in 2025 by signing to Re:Mission Entertainment. The single “I Have No Name” arrived on 29 August 2025 with remixes by Frontal Boundary and Slipjoint, as announced when Pygmy Children return with new album ‘Coincidental Strategies’, first single out August 29. The five-track Pygmy Children release ‘Signal Unknown’ single/EP followed on 17 October 2025 with reworkings by Fermion, Interface, Deekay and George Hagegeorge. The album “Coincidental Strategies” arrived on 24 October 2025 as a digital release and a limited-edition CD, the duo’s first physical edition since 1998. They also played an East Coast run billed as the Resurrection Tour alongside Mentallo & The Fixer.
Alongside their own catalogue the pair have taken on remix work for other Re:Mission Entertainment acts, including tracks on Frontal Boundary’s “Faith” EP and the album “Failure”. “Proof in Lies” is their first release of 2026 and opens the run-up to “Into The Silence”.
