Eden Synthetic Corps revisit their catalogue on ‘Away from Human Standards’
Eden Synthetic Corps mark 20 years with “Away from Human Standards”, re-recording two tracks from each album, out on Scanner / Dark Dimensions.

Eden Synthetic Corps “Away from Human Standards” is a new re-recorded collection from the Portuguese dark electro band, released on CD through Scanner, a sub-label of Germany’s Dark Dimensions. Marking roughly two decades since their 2006 debut, the album gathers 14 tracks, with two songs re-recorded from each of the band’s releases.
The band, abbreviated ESC, rebuilt each selection in its current style while keeping the original arrangements recognizable. The set is led by the video for “Soothe (Rework 2026)“, with “Angelshift (Rework 2026)” also issued ahead of the release.
The concept for the new album runs across the band’s catalogue: two songs from each release, refreshed by the present line-up of João Vairinhos, vocalist Marco P., bassist Walter T., drummer Daniel R. and guitarist Ricardo R. The fourteen tracks span the dark electro of the early albums through the heavier, guitar-driven sound of more recent work.
The collection traces a catalogue that began with in-your-face dark electro and moved toward a broader industrial and crossover sound. The band’s 2022 album “The Encyclopaedia of Black” marked that shift, adding stronger guitar and a wider vocal range. “Away from Human Standards” reframes earlier material through that later identity.
The tracklist is: “Angelshift”, “Architecture”, “Concrete”, “Commander Cruel”, “Northern Hunter”, “Soothe”, “Phantom”, “Matte”, “Totes Licht”, “White Beast”, “Breathing Salt”, “Trail of the Hydra”, “Spell” and “Mismatched”.
“Away from Human Standards” is available on CD through Scanner / Dark Dimensions.
About Eden Synthetic Corps
Eden Synthetic Corps formed in 2005 in Portugal and issued their debut album “Matte” in 2006 on Dark Dimensions. The dark electro of “Matte”, “Enhancer” and “Eight Thousand Square Feet” gave way to the more experimental “Breathing Salt” and then the organic-leaning “Sandwalkers” and “Gold”. Across these records the band toured internationally.
In 2022 the band released their seventh album, “The Encyclopaedia of Black”, which moved toward an industrial and crossover sound and introduced line-up changes, including a returning drummer and a new synth player. Founder João Vairinhos remains the project’s creative core, with Marco P. on vocals, Walter T. on bass, Daniel R. on drums and Ricardo R. on guitars. “Away from Human Standards” marks roughly twenty years since “Matte” by re-recording two songs from each release in the band’s current form.
