With Cold Cause, we welcome a Franco-German trio releasing their debut album on the renowned Manic Depression Records.
The album presents nine tracks that immediately reveal influences from bands such as Lebanon Hanover. What unfolds is a minimalist Electro-Wave sound in which icy synthesizers and guitar lines merge into a dark and atmospheric landscape, all driven by compelling, danceable rhythms. The female vocals, delivered in both German and English, possess a cold, detached quality that perfectly suits this style of music while remaining utterly captivating. Several tracks stand out through their strong dancefloor appeal, adding an extra layer of energy and intensity to the album. The combination of haunting melodies, restrained arrangements, and infectious rhythms creates a sound that feels both familiar and refreshing.

About Cold Cause
Cold Cause is a French-German trio made up of Luiça on vocals, Bruno on synths and machines, and Mathieu on guitar. The project formed in 2024 around a sound performance dedicated to German artist Joseph Beuys.
Musically the band mixes post-punk, EBM and darkwave.
The two singles “Road” and “Vampire der Liebe” preceded this self-titled debut, released in 2026 on Manic Depression Records in limited black-vinyl, digiCD and digital formats.
I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
