New Jersey shoegaze band Deardarkhead released “The Pendulum Swings” on 10 July 2026, their first album in over 25 years. Deardarkhead’s “The Pendulum Swings” was produced, engineered and mixed by Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey, known for work with The War on Drugs, Kurt Vile and Sharon Van Etten, and mastered by Joe Lambert, whose credits include Animal Collective, Blonde Redhead, Beach House and M83.
Inside Deardarkhead’s ‘The Pendulum Swings’
The album continues the band’s instrumental, guitar-led approach, working through texture and atmosphere rather than vocals. It was preceded by two singles, “Letting Go” and “In Another Life”, both issued on Bandcamp and streaming platforms ahead of the full release. Deardarkhead have named “Letting Go”, “In Another Life”, “Coming Undone”, “Tomorrowland”, “Black Pearls” and the title track among the record’s focus tracks. The tracks are instrumental and FCC-clean.
About Deardarkhead
Deardarkhead formed in 1988 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and make instrumental shoegaze and dream-pop built on guitar texture and atmosphere. The band spent decades as a low-profile act before this return, releasing the singles “Letting Go” and “In Another Life” as the first previews of the new material.
“The Pendulum Swings” is their first full-length album in over 25 years and their most produced statement to date, handled by Brian McTear and Amy Morrissey at the desk and mastered by Joe Lambert. The record marks the band’s return to album-length releases after years of sporadic activity.

Why we ask
Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
