Huir – States Of Light (Digital/CD/Vinyl Album – Cold Transmission Music)
Huir is a Spanish duo comprising Ana Of The Head and David Solazo. After releasing several singles and EPs, they now unveil their debut album through Cold Transmission Music.
The album is steeped in 1980s nostalgia, yet it feels anything but derivative. From the very first track, the duo demonstrates a remarkable ability to transform its influences into a sound that is unmistakably their own. Melancholic guitars and dark synth textures—hallmarks of the era—merge into an irresistibly danceable whole, while the expressive female vocals occasionally evoke the magic of Anja Huwe. Dream-Pop influences regularly surface throughout the album, enriched by delicate, crystal-clear electronic bleeps that add a contemporary touch. The record closes with a guitar-driven finale, once again underlining the duo’s refined electronic arrangements.
Huir clearly possesses both talent and vision, delivering a mature and thoroughly compelling debut. My only minor complaint is its brevity—we are treated to just eight tracks, leaving me wanting more. (Rating:7½).

About Huir
Huir built its catalog through a run of singles and EPs before signing to Cold Transmission Music for its debut album. The duo released the single “Vital” on November 24, 2023, followed by “Triumphal” on February 2, 2024. The EP “Triumphal Arch Lovers” followed on April 12, 2024, later paired with a remix companion, “Triumphal Arch Lovers [REMIXES]”, which included a version of “Vital” reworked by The KVB.
The single “Storm” followed on November 28, 2025, ahead of the debut album “States of Light”, released May 1, 2026 on Cold Transmission Music. The album was produced, mixed and mastered by Maurizio Baggio at La Distilleria in Bassano del Grappa, Italy.
