Genre/Influences: Gothic, Cold-Wave.

Format: Digital, CD.

Background/Info: Dramatic is a Mexican trio, which released this debut production right at the end of 2019. It rather looks like a mini-album featuring five songs plus three remixes.

Content: It doesn’t take that long to realize Dramatic is inspired by some icons of the 80s Cold/Dark-Wave scene and especially Joy Division comes to mind. The guitar playing, the deep vibrating bass lines and deep, growling vocals are definitely getting us back to the darkest hours of the 80s. Some guitar parts also evoke the spirit of early Neon Judgement. All remixes are Electro-like and made by SFX DJ, Dimitri Berzerk and Modelo De Placer.

+ + + : If you like ‘classical’ Cold-Wave music Dramatic might catch your attention. It’s an honest emulation of the typical cold 80s ‘wave’-spirit. The guitar play on songs like “Hate” and “The Night” feel like awakening in the 80s. Among the remixes I especially recommend listening to the EBM-driven edit by DMT Berzerk and the more sophisticated remix by Modelo De Placer.

– – – : The sound production and mix of this work could me more professional. I personally like the Electronic-driven remixes, but I can imagine it’s not exactly what guitar lovers are going to like.

Conclusion: This album is an honest debut for Dramatic.

Best songs: “The Night”, “Hate”, “Into Darkness – DMT Berzerk Remix”, “Into Darkness – Modelo De Placer Remix”.
