Dead Voices on Air, the project of Mark Spybey, will release a new album, “Mothcomma”, worldwide through Re:Mission Entertainment on 17 July 2026. The 12-track album comes out on CD and in digital form, with pre-orders open at Bandcamp and the project’s Big Cartel store.

Dead Voices on Air recorded “Mothcomma” in the aftermath of the project’s 2025 US tour, with sessions split between the Tees Valley in North East England and Lafayette, Colorado. The album was made on both sides of the Atlantic, and mixes the project’s experimental, industrial and dark ambient elements, moving between song structures, ambient passages, hand-built rhythms and treated vocals. Named tracks include “Pas de Chasse”, the title track “Mothcomma” and “For the Rush of Black Tar”.

The album credits Nathan Jamiel, Mark Spybey and Stephen Weatherall, with additional contributions from Robert Galbraith and Elizabeth Virosa of Snowbeasts and from Lori Cole. Robert Galbraith mastered the record. Nathan Jamiel, of the Denver band The Drood, and Stephen Weatherall have contributed to the project’s last two albums and played Spybey’s autumn 2025 US concerts.

Pre-orders run through Bandcamp and the Big Cartel store, where the “Mothcomma” CD is listed alongside a new run of t-shirts. Stock is limited: some items ship from the United States and others directly from Spybey in the UK, and the first 40 orders include a Dead Voices on Air logo sticker.

About Dead Voices on Air

Dead Voices on Air formed in Vancouver in 1992, when Mark Spybey, who had played in Newcastle’s Zoviet France in the late 1980s, began the project with Scott Harker and Clancy Dennehey. It became the ongoing vehicle for Spybey’s experimental, industrial and dark ambient work. Spybey was also an original member of Download, the offshoot featuring Skinny Puppy’s cEvin Key, and recorded under the name Propeller.

Across more than three decades, Spybey has collaborated widely, working with Graham Lewis of Wire, Faust, Michael Rother of Neu!, Dieter Moebius of Cluster, Jarboe of Swans, Jochen Arbeit of EinstĂĽrzende Neubauten, Lee Scratch Perry, Pigface and Snowbeasts. He has released through labels including Cold Spring, Soleilmoon, Kranky, Nettwerk, Emergency Hearts and Re:Mission Entertainment, and works with Zoviet France co-founder Robin Storey as Reformed Faction. In 2022 Emergency Hearts published Spybey’s musical memoir “Explicit in Purpose”.

Side-Line has followed the project in recent years, from the 2022 re-release of its debut as “Abrader Redux” to the 2023 collaborative album “Pennine” with Xqui, and spoke with Spybey for a 2021 ‘Click Interview’. In spring 2023 Spybey formed DADU with friends from his home town; Nathan Jamiel and Stephen Weatherall, who feature on “Mothcomma”, came out of that circle and toured the US with him in 2025. “Mothcomma” is the project’s newest release for Re:Mission Entertainment.
