Bass Communion – aka ambient, drone, noise artist Steven Wilson – returns with a brand new album, the 7-track release “The Itself Of Itself”. This new album by Wilson in solo electronic mode is his first in 12 years and will be released on May 24th via Fourth Dimension/Lumberton Trading Company.

Bass Communion is a solo project dedicated to exploring Wilson’s deviations into the realms of ambient, drone, noise and other sub-genres. This has resulted in ten Bass Communion albums to date, plus numerous collaborative projects.

Steven Wilson previously also recorded material in Porcupine Tree, Blackfield, Storm Corrosion, No-Man, and also release solo records under his own name.

“The Itself Of Itself” album is housed in a Carl Glover designed sleeve that also includes a 24 page booklet of his photographs and an obi strip.

An exclusive new Bass Communion track, the nine minute “To The Ship Now Underwater”, appears on “When Worlds Collide”, a 2xLP compilation also due in May via Fourth Dimension/Lumberton Trading Company. Other artists included on the limited edition set include Edward Ka-Spel of The Legendary Pink Dots, Alternative TV, Final, Sion Orgon, Splintered, Kleistwahr, Ashtray Navigations and more.

Since you’re here

we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
