Genre/Influences: Electro-pop, body-pop.
Background/Info: “Tirania De Lo Doméstico” is the official debut album of the Spanish trio Tröika. After a self-released digital EP they joined hands with the Russian label Scentair Records to unleash this opus featuring 9 songs plus 3 remixes.
Content: The electro-pop approach of Tröika features no real surprises. It’s a mix of typical electro-pop songs, which are sometimes accentuated by harder EBM-driven bass lines. I noticed a few more elaborated cuts with hopping sequences and cool bleeps. The lyrics have been sung in their Mother tongue.
+ + + : Sound-wise this band is not reinventing the electro-pop and EBM style, but the composition clearly reveals interesting elements. I’m referring to the more sophisticated songs like “En Descomposicion” and “Puzzles”. EBM elements and some harder kicks are reinforcing the power and danceable vibes running through the work.
– – – : One of the main aspects of this production that has to be improved is the production of the vocals. I’m missing passion and conviction in the singer’s performance. I’m also convinced that the composition can be better and especially more worked out. The songs are now a bit too monotonous.
Conclusion: I can’t say to have been really seduced by the electro-pop style of Tröika, but I’ve the feeling there’s more potential in this band than what came out. Let’s not forget it also concerns a debut album.
Best songs: “En Descomposicion”, “Puzzles”, “Dr. Sueno”, “Pripyat“.
