Chelsea Football Club has had some exceptional games in the recent years. Some of these have had something special about them.

Since Roman Abramovich arrived at the club, Chelsea enjoyed extraordinary success. They won a Champions League trophy, Leagues Cups and Premier Leagues. Plus, the Russian signed some of the most famous players in the world.

Below are the top three matches of Chelsea! And these are games played since Abramovich arrived at Stamford Bridge ten years ago…

Chelsea 4-4 Liverpool (Champions League, Quarter-Final)

A night to remember for Chelsea supporters! The game ended in a draw at Stamford Bridge between two massive rivals. Yet, Chelsea managed to go through 7-5 on aggregate. The team had the edge going into the game after beating Liverpool 3-1 at Anfield.

Yet, goals from Xabi Alonso and a free kick from Fabio Aurelio pulled the game level on aggregate. Chelsea came out well after the half time break. A Pepe Reina misjudgement and a free kick from Alex put Chelsea back in control.

Once Frank Lampard made it 3-2 to Chelsea, it became difficult for Liverpool to get back into the game. After a while, the real drama kicked in. Goals from Kuyt and Lucas set up a nervous end to the game. But Chelsea legend Frank Lampard scored another stunning goal. This allowed Chelsea to go through. It was an unbelievable night of football.

Chelsea 4-2 Barcelona (Champions League, Round of 16)

Chelsea achieved one of the most unbelievable performances in the 2004-05 season. It was in the Champions League game against Barcelona. Even the supporters could not believe their eyes. They saw their team go 3 goals to the good within 20 minutes. Damien Duff, Frank Lampard and Gudjohnsen were the real heroes.

The first leg ended in a 2-1 win to the Catalonian side. Two quick goals from Ronaldinho would have seen them through. The away goal rule was so important to Barcelona. But a late John Terry header sent Chelsea on their way to face arch-rival Liverpool.

Barcelona was a huge favourite to win the competition. It was a surprise to see them go out so early in the tournament. But the main factor in this night was an argument that fuelled the future rivalry between the clubs. Even Barcelona’s manager, Frank Rijkaard had to hold back in the tunnel after the game.

Bolton 0-2 Chelsea (Premier League)

Jose Mourinho led Chelsea to their first Premiership title in 50 years. It was during his first spell at the club. What made it even more special was because of their fine display against Bolton. He then went on to earn the nickname ‘Special One’.

The hero of the day was none other than Frank Lampard. The former England star scored both goals during the game. It was a real team display. The performance, the fans and the day were brilliant. This memorable game won the heart of the staff and fans alike. An amazing feat!
