Thin Eater is a Swedish duo that emerged in 2022. Their 12-song self-released and self-titled album marks what feels like the band’s true debut.

“Thin Eater” is a particularly striking record thanks to its intertwining influences. On one hand, there’s a strong Electro/EBM foundation reminiscent of And One; on the other, shades of Dark-Wave and Rock call to mind The Cure—and, unexpectedly, even Chris Isaak at times. The interplay between guitar and electronics is both inventive and seamless. Some tracks lean heavily into EBM, while others drift toward Dark-Wave or Rock, yet the album maintains a strong sense of cohesion throughout. The vocals add another layer of distinction, with a timbre that occasionally recalls Stan Ridgway of Wall Of Voodoo.

I thoroughly enjoyed this record and can highly recommend it. (Rating:8).

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
