Terence Fixmer – Magnetic North (Digital EP – NovaMute)
French Body-Techno guru Terence Fixmer returns with a new EP featuring three tracks.
The title track closes the release and showcases Fixmer at his best — a dark and brutal piece with raw, unpolished production that feels like a perfect cross-pollination between Techno and Industrial. The other two tracks are remixes of familiar pieces from his latest album, “The Paradox In Me” (2024). Remixed by Oliver Rosemann and Marcel Dettmann, they sound more restrained and rooted in a classic Dark-Techno style.
There’s nothing bad to say about either remix, but next to the title track by the master himself, they inevitably feel a bit pale. (Rating:7½).

About Terence Fixmer
Terence Fixmer began producing electronic music in the late 1990s and launched his label Planete Rouge in 1998. His debut album, “Muscle Machine” (2001, International Deejay Gigolos), introduced a fusion of Techno and EBM that he continued to refine across later works.
In the mid-2000s, he collaborated with the late Douglas McCarthy of Nitzer Ebb under the name Fixmer/McCarthy. Subsequent albums include “Comedy of Menace” (2010, Electric Deluxe), “Depth Charged” (2015, CLR), “Through the Cortex” (2018, Ostgut Ton), and “Shifting Signals” (2022, Mute). He has also remixed Depeche Mode, Front 242, and Sven Väth.
Fixmer is based in France. The “Magnetic North” EP follows the 2023 album “The Paradox In Me” on NovaMute, and includes remixes by Oliver Rosemann and Marcel Dettmann alongside the title track.
