Out via Cyclic Law on January 24, but already in pre-order now, is the all new album from Sutekh Hexen. The Bay Area-based project has been conducting experimental black metal deconstructionism for over 14 years, occasionally collaborating with other musicians. Initially (and anonymously) Sutekh Hexen released three limited demo tapes offering atmospheric black metal with noise electronics, dark ambient and the odd vocals.

The release was recorded on location on the west coast in California and Oregon, in New England, in Berlin, and in the French Pyrenees.

“Primeval” holds 8 tracks and has been created utilizing arrangements of exclusively acoustic instrumentation and other non-electric methods of sound generation via: acoustic strings (guitars, viola, violin), percussion (metal, stone, wooden objects, timpani), wind: (pipe organ and open-air orations).

The album is co-released with Breath Sun Bone Blood and will come in a CD Edition of 300 copies in an oversized A5 6 panel Sleeve, Spot UV and Matte varnish. The album is also available as a download. Read the review of ‘Primeval’.

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
