This is the official debut album from German artist Oliver Decrow, featuring 13 tracks that immediately immerse listeners in a vintage Minimal-Electro sound. The songs may appear simple at first, but their strength lies in the powerful and precise sound design. Retro synths dominate the compositions, evoking a nostalgic 80s vibe that permeates the entire album. The vocals, though intentionally sterile, perfectly capture the era’s distinct style. Overall, this debut is a promising and compelling listen that I highly recommend. (Rate:8).

About Oliver Decrow

Oliver Decrow is a Minimal-Electro/Wave artist from Dresden, East Germany, who began producing music while studying fine arts at the Dresden Art Academy. There he was introduced to 80s Italo-Disco, Cold-Wave and Minimal-Wave through a local DJ, and later lived in Montreal and New York, where he filmed his first music videos. He collaborated with opera singer Annette Jahns and received early production guidance from Sneaker DJ.

“I’m Too Young To Die”, released on Cold Transmission Music, is Oliver Decrow’s debut album. He discussed its influences and his background in a Side-Line interview published shortly after the album’s release.

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
