Nico Amara is a Swiss female artist who makes her debut with this album.
It’s a unique experience—difficult to categorize—best described as Cinematic and Experimental, led by a steady, whispering vocal delivery. The overall sound is ethereal and dark, shaped largely by the presence of strings. The atmosphere is introverted and minimalist. The final tracks introduce a bit more variety, featuring slightly more defined rhythms and moments that are at times reminiscent of Elena Alice Fossi’s solo work.
While I wouldn’t call this an unqualified success, Nico Amara certainly has something distinctive. I’m genuinely curious to see how her sound will evolve. (Rating:6).

Nico Amara is a solo artist based in Basel, Switzerland, working across electronic, coldwave, dark ambient, and minimal synth styles. “Constraints” is her debut album, released independently on 9 May 2025.
Nico Amara wrote, performed and produced all eight tracks herself, with mixing and mastering by Pina Vanucci and cover art by the artist.
