Hunter As a Horse announce debut album ‘Paradise Lost’ on Metropolis Records
South African dark-pop artist Hunter As a Horse releases the debut album “Paradise Lost” on Metropolis Records on 24 July.

Hunter As a Horse, the project of South African musician Mia van Wyk, will release the debut album “Paradise Lost” on Metropolis Records on July 24, 2026. The twelve-track album follows five singles issued on the label.
Hunter As a Horse bring a cinematic strain of electronic dark-pop that mixes alternative, dream-pop and nu-goth elements, built on Mia van Wyk’s vocals and dark, atmospheric production.
“Paradise Lost” runs twelve tracks: “Here’s To All The Ones,” “Kiss of Death,” “Object,” “Obey,” “Masochist,” “The Fortress,” “Paradise Lost,” “Go To Bed Now,” “Leviathan,” “Lighthouse,” “Dark Sky” and “Dead Things.” It gathers the singles van Wyk has released since signing to Metropolis Records in early 2026 – including “Lighthouse” and “Here’s To All The Ones” – alongside new songs.
van Wyk described the record as a single, connected work: “It was the first time I really started thinking in terms of a connected body of work, so it felt natural to take that further with “Paradise Lost”. It is designed to be heard as one piece, even though the songs are quite different individually.” On its themes, she added that the album “deals with my shadow, my transformation and my inner architecture, and I have tried to show what is deep inside myself.”
The title track “Paradise Lost” leads the album:
About Hunter As a Horse
Hunter As a Horse (HAAH) is the project of South African musician and vocalist Mia van Wyk, based in the Western Cape. Over roughly a decade she has self-released singles and EPs that pair electronic production with dark, cinematic arrangements, moving between alternative, electronic and dream-pop. Her 2025 EP “Anathema” marked a shift toward a connected body of work, a thread she carried into “Paradise Lost.” Songs by Hunter As a Horse have appeared in television series including American Horror Story, Riverdale and Elite, and the film “Wander Darkly.” After signing to Metropolis Records in early 2026 and releasing five singles, van Wyk gathers that run on her first full-length album, due July 24, 2026.
