Heimberg is a French band from Strasbourg, now seeing their first two self-released EPs (Isolation”and Blind Eye”) compiled and released as a full-length album via Icy Cold Records. The band embodies a deeply dark and almost tormented take on Dark-Wave. The atmospheric, melancholic guitar lines evoke a sense of hopelessness while remaining eerily enchanting. Deep, resonant vocals paired with low, pulsating bass lines accentuate the music’s somber tone. Ethereal synths weave through the compositions, creating an immersive, almost requiem-like soundscape that feels transformative. Heimberg’s ability to build their songs to monumental climaxes is nothing short of remarkable. In my opinion, they are one of the most outstanding discoveries on Icy Cold Records to date. (Rating:8½).

About Heimberg

Heimberg is a French post-punk and dark-wave trio from Strasbourg, formed in 2021 by Alex and Quentin and later joined by Anthony. The three play guitar, bass and synthesiser over programmed drums, drawing on cold-wave, post-punk and electronic sources. The band name joins the Alsatian words for home and mountain.

Their self-released EPs “Isolation” (2022) and “Blind Eye” (2024) were combined by Icy Cold Records into the compilation album reviewed here. The band later spoke with Side-Line in the 2025 Heimberg interview, and their debut studio album “Faceless” followed in December 2025 on the same label across digital, CD and vinyl formats.

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
