Glis – Gateaway To Oblivion (Album – Digital/CD – Alfa Matrix)

Glis – Gateaway To Oblivion
More than a decade after his last release, Shaun Frandsen returns with a new album from Glis. The American artist enlisted Seb Komor (Komor Kommando, Icon Of Coil, among others) for collaboration, and even features a guest appearance by Jennifer Parkin (Ayria) on one track. Both in sound and influence, it feels as though Glis never left. This album delivers a solid mix of Future-Pop and EBM, enriched with a raw, Industrial edge. Glis retains its recognizable style, offering listeners several standout tracks. This is more than just a successful comeback; it’s a great album. (Rating: 8½)

About Glis
Glis is the American Future-Pop and EBM project of Shaun Frandsen, releasing on Alfa Matrix. More than a decade after his previous release, Frandsen returned with the 20th-anniversary single “Sunrise Forever” in December 2023, followed by the album “Gateway To Oblivion” in May 2024, discussed in a Side-Line interview about industrial sounds and future-pop fusion the following month. “Gateway To Oblivion” was produced with Seb Komor of Komor Kommando and Icon Of Coil, and includes a guest appearance from Ayria’s Jennifer Parkin.

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
