San Francisco minimal synth duo Frozen Warnings released an official video for “Locked Out” on 11 July 2026, directed by Fred Joseph. The same day, the band made available the “Locked Out Remixes EP,” a four-track companion release issued 10 July 2026 through God’s Eye Records. “Locked Out” itself originally appeared on the duo’s album “Momentum,” released 7 February 2026.

Frozen Warnings are Walker Phillips and Caira Paravel, who share vocals and production. “Locked Out” pairs a drum machine, a cold bass line and a chanted vocal loop. The band described the song’s origin: “Locked Out was written spontaneously during rehearsal when the studio computer locked itself, Caira began chanting ‘locked out!’ and I joined in, sampling my voice as the arrhythmic loop that forms the song’s core texture. The rest was improvised quickly to keep the spirit. On the Locked Out Remixes EP, we explored more deliberate remix arrangements.”

Frozen Warnings’ ‘Locked Out Remixes EP’ adds single edit, remix and live versions

The “Locked Out Remixes EP” gathers four versions of the track: “Locked Out – Single Edit,” “Locked Out – Smash The Lock,” “Locked Out – Aliaser Remix” featuring Aliaser, and “Locked Out – Live.” The EP runs 14 minutes and 27 seconds and is credited to God’s Eye Records.

On the video, shot on VHS-style footage by director Fred Joseph, the band commented: “The video was heavily processed by director Fred Joseph with vintage equipment, filming off of screens and that kind of thing. It was shot very spur of the moment, mirroring the approach we took to recording the song – basically, using old technology and letting chance take over.”

“Locked Out” streams on Bandcamp; the “Locked Out Remixes EP” streams on Spotify. No physical format has been confirmed for either release.

About Frozen Warnings

Frozen Warnings is the San Francisco duo of Walker Phillips and Caira Paravel, who share vocals and production across minimal synth, punk and industrial material. The band describes its outlook in a manifesto: “We have no history that is meaningful, we only look forward and abandon hope with total optimism. Dance is the eternal now, in dance we destroy our past and our future.”

The duo self-released the two-track EP “Provider” on 17 January 2025, followed by the ten-track album “Momentum” on 7 February 2026, which included “Locked Out” as its fifth song. “Locked Out” returned in July 2026 with an official video and the “Locked Out Remixes EP,” the band’s first release through God’s Eye Records.
