Frontier Guards & Mia Bohemia – Wonder (Digital/CD Album – Aliens Production)
This album is the result of a collaboration between two Czech artists: the renowned Martin Pavlik of Frontier Guards and vocalist Jitka Charvátová, also known as Mia Bohemia. Frontier Guards has always stood for meticulously crafted, artistic, and high-quality Ambient/IDM—a signature style evident in “Wonder”, though this album takes on a more flowing, Ethereal tone. Mia Bohemia’s heavenly voice adds a new dimension to the music, reminiscent of the atmospheric qualities found in Delerium’s work. The album begins pleasantly, but gradually evolves into a series of rich, top-notch tracks. Driven by slow, sensual rhythms and delicately accented with subtle piano parts, each piece builds upon the last. While Frontier Guards steps slightly outside its comfort zone, this collaboration opens new creative pathways. It’s a successful partnership that one can only hope will continue in the future. About Frontier Guards and Mia Bohemia
Frontier Guards is the solo project of Czech musician Martin Pavlik, mixing IDM, ambient-electro and downtempo elements. Pavlik released the albums “Predestination” (3 July 2008) and “Interface” (8 February 2013) on the Slovak label Aliens Production, followed by albums on UTSC and Advoxya Records. He returned to Aliens Production with his fifth album “#You#” (25 April 2019), followed by “Reload” (20 October 2020) and “Colony” (23 March 2023). In 2019 Pavlik discussed his work in a ‘Click Interview’ with Frontier Guards on Side-Line.
Mia Bohemia is the vocal alias of Czech vocalist Jitka Charvátová. “Wonder”, released on 12 October 2024 on digital and CD formats through Aliens Production, is the first collaborative album by Frontier Guards and Mia Bohemia and the release reviewed here.
