The French Lille-based electro synthwave act Dark Minimal Project is back with an all new, 2nd, album, “Ghost Of Modern Times”. Guillaume VDR and Ange Vesper started the project in 2022 with a first album entitled “Cold Black Room” which referenced to the track “Satellite” by Depeche Mode on “A Broken Frame”. 22 concerts later we now get the second album “Ghost of Modern Times” which references to an early previously unreleased Depeche Mode track from 1980.

For this new album the band enlisted Peter Rainman for the arrangement and the mixes.

Listeners will hear quickly that this second album is much darker than the first one. Conceptually it talks about the different states of mind that a man or a woman can encounter during their lives. The songs actually need to be listened to in the order offered by the tracklist as it shows a chronological story between two beings, one of which is a human, the other a droid. And yes, it sounds very much like Bladerunner, including the album’s intro.

You can check out the full album below.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
