Swedish industrial/EBM outfit CK 37 – short for Centralkalkylator 37 – have announced a new single called “Gammal är äldst” (“Old is the oldest”) to be released on Wednesday 20 August. The track is a humorous tribute to ageing and persistence, promising a “body bassline” for fans whose joints aren’t as flexible as they used to be. The band adds that the song “hits like a kneecap in a headwind” and laughs at the seriousness of their own genre, proving “it’s never too late for EBM, rollators and rhythmic rheumatism.”

In short, “Gammal är äldst” is a homage to physical decline and the stubborn will to keep playing music. The B‑side of the single will be a remix of their 2024 track “Svett”, reimagined by producer Neuf.

CK 37 will premiere the official music video for “Gammal är äldst” on Wednesday 20 August, 2 days before the single is released across Bandcamp and major streaming platforms.

About CK 37

CK 37 describe themselves as the “epicentre of the electronical storm”, and is a Swedish EBM and industrial collective whose mission is to “weaponize sound against societal inertia and collapse“. Formed by three members with conceptual aliases – S.A. Dist, Ossi Oscillator and The Synth Panda – the project blends body music, noise and avant‑garde electronics.

Each member brings a particular background: S.A. Dist is a former AI researcher, Ossi Oscillator uses Arctic field recordings and experimental synthesis, and The Synth Panda is a self‑styled signal architect.

In earlier releases, the band has shown a taste for reinterpretation. On their May 2025 single “800º”, they turned a punk classic into body music. CK 37’s name is itself a nod to an advanced airborne computer developed by Datasaab for the Saab 37 Viggen fighter aircraft; the CK 37 computer integrated data from sensors and fed it to head‑up displays and weapon system.

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
