About The Melody Chamber

The Melody Chamber formed in Richmond, Virginia around songwriter/vocalist Wallace Dietz (Silent Boys) and producer/engineer Dan-O Deckelman (Sound of Music Studios). The band’s current lineup features Dietz (vocals, rhythm guitar), Deckelman (guitars, keyboards, backing vocals), Blee Child (drums) and Randy Mendicino (bass). The group recorded their material at Sound of Music Studios in Richmond.

The project began when Dietz and Deckelman started collaborating at Sound of Music; the pairing evolved into a post-punk/jangle-pop unit and subsequently added Child and Mendicino. In 2025 the band issued a sequence of singles ahead of the LP: “Memories of Fall” (September 23, 2025), “This Train” (October 2, 2025), and now “1 + 1” (October 22, 2025).

The band describe themselves as “the merging of two pop enthusiasts and songwriters – Wallace Dietz and Dan-O Deckelman,” with songs “designed for an imaginary John Hughes 80’s film soundtrack.”
