The Greatest Chelsea Players Of All Time

Discussing which the greatest Chelsea players of all time are is an exercise in futility. Opinions will vary drastically, tempers will almost certainly get heated, and through it all no universally agreed upon conclusions will be reached.

With that being said, while specific Chelsea players may not be agreed on as the best, it can certainly be agreed on that they’re outstanding. These are the Chelsea players that stand apart as being truly exceptional, while not necessarily the best of all time.

Eden Hazard

Hazard is a controversial Chelsea player, mostly due to the fact that he didn’t stick around. Though in his time with Chelsea he earned a reputation as a star. It wasn’t uncommon to see him dribbling past some of the best players in the world, leaving them scratching their heads in confusion.

His Chelsea career lasted between 2012 and 2019, seen by many as a golden era for the club. During that time Hazard put in some incredible work, until finally moving on to Real Madrid. His last game with Chelsea more or less summed up his entire career. The match saw him land a pair of goals and assist a third. Hence, he left as he arrived; in true football dominating style.

Peter Osgood

Going back to the 60s and 70s now, we pay respect to another golden era in Chelsea’s history. Namely the times that Peter Osgood was tearing up the field. Most remember that he was sadly absent from the World Cup team due to a broken leg, but that didn’t stop the incredibly talented player from making up for it in other tournaments.

Have a watch of the 1970 FA Cup as it’s as exciting as playing the Fair Go Casino prefers on your phone. Seeing Osgood slamming in game changing goals is a real win too.

Ron Harris

No list of Chelsea greats would be complete without Ron Harris. Another legend from the 70s, Harris still holds a record for appearing an astonishing 795 times as a Chelsea player. Yes, he stuck with the team for a full 2 decades, with his first appearance happening in 1961, and his last in 1980. In that time he earned the nickname Chopper, and rightly so. Few players chopped up attacks like this incredible defender.

Dennis Wise

Perhaps a bit more controversial a choice than some others on this list, Wise draws mixed opinions from fans. Yes, he had his fair share of mishaps, and even behaved in ways that some might call questionable. But there is no question that the captain was also an immensely important player.

Having appeared between 1990 and 2001 some of the clubs greatest victories were in part thanks to Wise.

Kerry Dixon

Our last mention goes to Kerry Dixon. It goes without saying that Dixon formed part of perhaps the greatest goal scoring trio in soccer history, including Speedie and Nevin. Together the 3 scored an unbelievable 200 goals over the course of 3 years, an achievement that really does speak for itself.
