Anna Jordan — better known as The Allegorist — presents a new album that she spent several years crafting. Its title offers a clear clue to its theme and underlying concept: the journey from birth to our final day, a long and transformative path that The Allegorist translates into a deeply introspective sonic experience.

The album draws its strength from mystical and atmospheric imagery, interwoven with Ethereal, almost celestial vocals. A strong Cinematic sensibility runs throughout, enhanced by grand, evocative arrangements and enchanting choral layers. At times, everything converges into a Trance-like apotheosis that feels both meditative and transcendent. The tracklist appears meticulously structured, and the deeper one delves into the album, the more it reveals itself as a celebration of life in all its phases.

For me, the highlights emerge in the final section, where Anna Jordan seems to confront the notion of mortality — perhaps suggesting that we must live and celebrate now, or never. Here, the music becomes more rhythmic and danceable, echoing early Techno influences, before the closing track, “Death,” gently slows the pulse. Calm and contemplative, it feels like the ultimate exhale — the final moment of release.

The Allegorist once again reinvents herself, delivering a poignant and deeply human composition. (Rating:8).

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
