“Folding In” is a 6-track EP born from the collaboration between Fade Kainer (Statiqbloom) and Joey Gonzalez (Blush Response). Both American artists have made a lasting impact on the progressive Industrial/Body/Techno scene over the years. By joining forces, they’ve delivered a powerful production driven by the magic of analog machines.

The atmosphere is dark, at times even grim, while the raw sound design exudes a sense of menace, further intensified by pounding Industrial beats. You’ll encounter ghostly vocal effects that blend seamlessly into the sonic landscape. The EP also features striking moments with dark strings and an ambiance that faintly recalls the work of Mortal Constraint.

This is an exceptional collaboration—one that certainly deserves a sequel. (Rating:8).

About Statiqbloom & Blush Response

Statiqbloom is the solo project of Fade Kainer; Blush Response is the solo project of Joey Gonzalez. The two artists crafted “Folding In” together in Berlin, Germany, building tracks from live hardware improvisation that was recorded, edited and arranged in sessions at Gonzalez’s studio. The EP was issued on vinyl through Hands. Kainer and Gonzalez discussed the collaboration in a Side-Line interview published August 10, 2025.

Kainer went on to release the Statiqbloom album “The Casket Nest” on Hands, following the earlier album “Threat”. Gonzalez followed “Folding In” with the solo Blush Response album “Ego Death”, announced for release on October 10, 2025 on Artoffact Records.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
