Background/Info: “Emergence” was released last year and is the debut work by Pittsburgh (USA)-duo Railwrx. This band is driven by George Cicci and Ross Beall who already worked together in the 90s under the bLaCKlaNDs-moniker.
Content: “Emergence” sounds like good-old and intelligent EBM mainly inspired by the Canadian school. The work features 4 cuts which are mainly driven by menacing bass lines, low sound treatments and ghost-like atmospheres with similar vocals on top.
+ + + : This band -and especially for a debut-EP, took me by surprise by a sophisticated EBM format. The songs are well-crafted and definitely reminding me of Frontline Assembly.
– – – : I regret this is just an EP; I want to hear more stuff from these guys.
Conclusion: I can only but encourage EBM lovers to discover this promising band.

Railwrx is an EBM duo from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, formed by George Cicci and Ross Beall, who had previously worked together in the 1990s under the bLaCKlaNDs name. The project describes itself as raised amid the sound of the city’s former manufacturing hub, referencing Pittsburgh’s steel industry heritage and the rail lines running through its valleys.
