øjeRum – Drømme I Langsomt Stof (Digital/CD Album – Glacial Movements)
Danish artist Paw Grabowski has released an impressive number of productions, and his creativity seems unstoppable. He puts out several albums every year and has collaborated with numerous labels. This work appears to be his first release on Glacial Movements, where he recorded the sounds of melting ice on a lake—an idea that fits perfectly within the label’s concept.
The result is a single, extended track that transports the listener for 45 minutes. Field recordings are quickly introduced, providing a distinct sound source that merges with deep, humming sound waves. The piece unfolds gradually, ensuring it never feels repetitive. There is a palpable depth to it, and some of the lower tones evoke vivid, almost visual impressions. The artist manages to create a kind of nihilistic atmosphere—a sensation of wandering through an endless sonic labyrinth with no exit.
This is a rather Experimental work that I genuinely appreciate, though it may not be øjeRum’s finest creation. (Rating:7).
