(Photo by Shane K. Gardner) The post-punk ensemble Black Rose Burning, hailing from New York City, unveils their latest single “Fight!”, a song from their third studio album “Ad Astra”. Previously, the band launched the singles “Night Terrors” and “Sing to Me (E.L.E.)”.

Established in 2018 by the instrumentalist, producer, and engineer George Grant, Black Rose Burning also collaborates with guitarist Frank Morin (World Inferno Friendship Society) and drummer Luis Infantas (Monster Zero).

This latest single before the unveiling of the full “Ad Astra” album, “Fight!”, is penned from the perspective of an individual discontented with their romantic partner or relationship, and, as described by lead vocalist George Grant, they’ve essentially resigned but, for various reasons, find it difficult or impossible to conclude the relationship. “Ad Astra” underwent mastering by Jason Corbett of Actors at Jacknife Sound.

In 2021, Black Rose Burning introduced their second album, “The Wheel”, following their debut “The Year of the Scorpion” album a year earlier. “Ad Astra” was captured in George’s personal studio, PV Recording Company, which has, rather fortuitously, welcomed numerous artists connected to the scene over the years, including Emelio Zeff China (Peter Murphy), Knox Chandler (Siouxsie And The Banshees), Chibi (The Birthday Party Massacre), Nellie McKay, Julia Marcel, Paul Bakija (Reagan Youth), Ego Likeness, and Voltaire (with whom Grant also spent a decade playing bass).

“Fight!” is currently available exclusively on Bandcamp. The “Ad Astra” album is set for release on 15th September on CD and will also be digitally accessible across various music platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp. On that very evening, Black Rose Burning will host their album launch event at NYC’s Mercury Lounge for The Red Party.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
