Alice Sheridan, the British artist behind New Haunts, has been crafting her sound as a solo act for several years. With multiple releases already under her belt, she’s set to return at the end of 2024 with her latest album, “Hooks”. The album draws from a range of influences, predominantly Electro, with a distinctive minimalistic edge. While there’s a subtle Pop undertone, the music is enveloped in a cold, atmospheric aesthetic that complements Sheridan’s unique vocal timbre; often reminiscent of Anne Clark. Her voice carries a passionate intensity, especially on the heavier tracks, where it delivers a striking emotional impact. These heavier songs stand out as the album’s strongest moments, leaving a lasting impression. However, one might wish for a few more tracks in this vein to fully capitalize on their power.
