Genre/Influences: IDM, Electro.

Format: Digital.

Background/Info: “Abyss” is meant as an appetizer to the new Disharmony-album “Pendulum Swing”. ‘Ryby’ brings us three new songs from  his next full length.

Content: “Pendulum” is somewhat different from the stuff we’re used to hearing from this Slovakian IDM-master. The track reveals EBM elements but especially the dark, haunting, atmosphere recovering the track is somewhat different while ghost-like vocals reinforce this feeling. Both other cuts are remixes from songs that will be featured as original edits on the next album. You’ll (re)discover the more familiar IDM -and instrumental, approach of Disharmony.

+ + + : This EP sounds like a great appetizer to the new full length. “Pendulum” isn’t totally innovating although revealing a less familiar side of Ryby. It’s still refined but also driven by bombastic percussions. Both cuts left bring us back to the sound intelligence of Disharmony; evasive, dark, a bit space-like and achieved with this unique subtle touch.

– – – : This work is just a teaser to the album so only for the die-hard fans.

Conclusion: Electronic music from a higher level!

Best songs: “Pendulum”, “Blood For Glory – Abyss Monolite Rmx”, “Empty Room With Demons – Abyss Atmo Rmx”.

Rate: 7½.

Inferno Sound Diaries
I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
