David Galas announces ‘The Nihilist’ on These Hands Melt

American darkwave/post-punk artist David Galas will release the solo album “The Nihilist” on 12 December 2025 via These Hands Melt. The album is available as a digisleeve CD and as a digital download. Pre-orders are live.
“The Nihilist” returns to Galas’s post-punk roots. The label sees the new album as “his most immediate yet fatalistic songbook to date” with “lyrics drenched in apocalyptic pessimism” and a sound drawing from The Mission, Mephisto Waltz, and Joy Division adding that “the fading hopes of our world have never sounded this good on a goth dancefloor.”
All songs on “The Nihilist” were written, performed, recorded, and produced by David Galas between March 2024 and March 2025 at The Fallout Shelter, Norway, Michigan.
About David Galas
David Galas is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist based in Michigan. He is a contributing member of the darkwave band Lycia alongside Mike VanPortfleet and Tara VanFlower.
Galas began issuing solo work with “The Cataclysm” (Vendlus Records, 2006). Subsequent releases include “The Happiest Days of My Life” (2009), “The Ghosts of California” (2011), “A Long Hard Road to Nowhere” (2018), “October Rising” (2022), “Rituals of the Dead” (2023), and the singles “You’re A Needle In My Arm” and “Psilocybin” (2024). In 2024, These Hands Melt reissued “The Cataclysm” as a 2-CD remaster.
