Background/Info: Asdean is a Belorussian project originally set up in 2010 as Asdeandare and was renamed to Asdean in 2017. The debut album “Time.Space.Life” (“Время.Пространство.Жизнь”) was released last year and features nine songs plus five remixes.
Content: Asdean deals with a rather familiar Dark-Electro sound, which is dominated by harsh vocals –sung in their Mother tongue, and featuring some female backings. There’s a cool twist between powerful sequences plus hard kicking rhythms at one side and retro-melodic strings at the other side. Some of the strings remind me now and then of Gary Numan.
Remixes have been made by Outpost 11, Larva, Synthetische Lebensform, TomZigota and Object16.
+ + + : Asdean has found the right home at Advoxya Records, which is totally devoted to this kind of haunting Electro. I like the noticeable melodic side of the production, which has something old-school and creates a nice contrast with the global power of the production. Several songs are carried by cool melody lines. Among the remixes I especially like the ones accomplished by label mate Larva and the Russian project Synthetische Lebensform injecting an EBM touch to the original song.
– – – : I noticed a few slower passages, which aren’t the best ones. Some remixes are better than the original edits.
Conclusion: Asdean doesn’t innovate, but the sonic fusion between traditional Dark-Electro and retro melody lines sounds cool.

About Asdean
Asdean is a dark-electro project from Svetlogorsk, Belarus, formed in 2010 under the name Asdeandare and renamed Asdean in 2017, according to Discogs and the Advoxya Records Bandcamp page. The Bandcamp credits list the members as Roman Shkurko, Evgeniya Khodanovich and Roman Paschenko. As Asdeandare the project released the EP “In The Darkness Of Orbits” in 2015 and contributed remixes and tracks to compilations on Insane Records, Tenebris Records and Russian Dark Community.
The debut album “Время.Пространство.Жизнь” (“Time.Space.Life”) was released by Advoxya Records on 12 April 2020, Cosmonautics Day, on CD and as a download. It was written alongside the book “Outside Of Time” by Ruslan Kovtun, and Asdean handled recording, mastering, production and design. The nine songs, “Intro”, “Cosmos”, “When You Lie”, “Shadow Guardian”, “Imprisonment”, “Hibernation”, “My Star”, “Discoverer” and “Divine Engineering”, are followed by remixes of “Shadow Guardian” by Outpost 11 and Larva, of “Imprisonment” by Synthetische Lebensform and TomZigota, and of “Cosmos” by Object16. Asdean has also remixed label mates, including a contribution to the Outpost11 album Structural Defects (Advoxya Records, 2021). The debut album remains the project’s only full-length listed on Discogs.
