Amorphous – Skepticism (Digital/CD Album – Semantics Productions)
“Skepticism” marks the fifth studio album by Gil OS, also known as Amorphous. Drawing inspiration from dystopian themes, the album channels these ideas into the artist’s signature old-school EBM style. The tracks are meticulously crafted, evoking the spirit of ’90s Electro while incorporating a modern edge. The real strength of this release lies in its dark, immersive atmosphere rather than sheer sonic aggression, occasionally venturing into Cinematic territory. At moments, it feels like an imaginative blend of Vomito Negro and early Frontline Assembly. Among the highlights are the more danceable, club-oriented tracks, with the instrumental “In-Vitro Test” standing out -though the artist’s haunting vocal delivery adds an intriguing layer elsewhere. While I wouldn’t consider this Amorphous’s strongest work, as it offers fewer surprises, it remains a compelling addition to the ever-evolving world of EBM. (Rating:7½).

About Amorphous
Amorphous is the dark electro and EBM project of Brighton, UK based musician Gil Oliveira Santos, who records as Gil OS. The project debuted in 2015 with “Behaviourism” on Semantics Productions, the same year as a split remix release with the Finnish act Cardinal Noire.
“Shapeshifting” followed in 2016 on Wave Records, and “Shapeless” in 2017 on Semantics Productions. “Moth Metaphor” came out in 2020 on Semantics Productions, and “Stigmergy” in 2021 on Razgrom Music. Gil OS spoke to Side-Line in a 2017 Click Interview and again in a 2020 Click Interview. “Skepticism”, released in 2024 on Semantics Productions as a digital download and digipak CD, continues that run.
