The German band Battle Scream, founded in 2001, has released their seventh album this year. Over the years, the group’s sound and influences have evolved, yet their music remains anchored by powerful guitar-driven sections. Layered over this Goth/Metal foundation are accessible synth arrangements and melodies that often create an uplifting effect. Defining the album’s genre proves challenging, as it blends various influences into a dynamic Metal/Rock-Pop hybrid. Nearly every track resonates deeply with the listener, evoking both emotion and movement. This is an exceptionally strong album, delivering a near-continuous stream of standout tracks. While most songs are sung in German, a few English tracks also make an appearance. The production is polished, cohesive, and refined, making it, in my opinion, one of the best albums of 2024. With the exception of an atmospheric intro and an acoustic closing track featuring female vocals, this record stands as a true masterpiece. (Rating:9).

About Battle Scream

Battle Scream was founded in 2001 in Dresden, Germany. The band mixes heavy guitars with an experimental, multi-layered electro sound, fronted by singer Alex. Around the band’s 20th year, guitarist Tino Dernehl joined the line-up and took on the role of second vocalist alongside Alex.

The seventh studio album “Spiegelbild” was released on October 4, 2024 via Scanner, a division of the Dark Dimensions label group. The album combines German and English songs, with lyrics addressing social criticism and personal experiences from the past years, and the interplay of Alex’s and Tino’s voices runs through the record. It is the album reviewed here.
