Greek artist Vasilis Angelopoulos is celebrating the 10th anniversary of his solo project, Conjecture, this year. To mark the occasion, he has once again teamed up with Zoharum to re-release the 2019 album ”V”, this time including tracks from the 2020 EP “∫V” as a bonus. This reissue offers a great opportunity to revisit a project that has already produced several standout releases. Conjecture blends influences from a variety of genres, including Minimal-Electro, Dark-Ambient, Industrial, and Cinematic, resulting in a dynamic fusion of sounds. Here and there, you’ll catch spoken-word samples adding further depth. The album closes with excellent remixes by Antechamber, Evitceles, Flint Glass, and notably Blakk Harbor. While the record isn’t entirely new, it’s a pleasure to rediscover this rich soundscape. (Rate:8½).

About Conjecture

Conjecture is the solo project of Greek musician Vasilis Angelopoulos, who marked ten years of activity under the name in 2024. The project builds slow, low-bass rhythmic structures that cross dark ambient, industrial, and cinematic electronics. Side-Line hosted the exclusive premiere of the album “V” in May 2019, ahead of its vinyl release on the Amek label.

The cassette EP “∫V” followed in 2020, and in 2021 Conjecture released the album “Hydra” as a first collaboration with the Polish label Zoharum. “V (ext. edit)”, issued by Zoharum on May 14, 2024 as a limited digipack CD and digital album, brings the “V” material to CD for the first time, expanded with the “∫V” tracks and remixes, and is the release reviewed here.

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
