Interface – Where All Roads Lead (CD Album – Distortion Productions)

Genre/Influences: Future-pop, electro-pop, EBM.
Background/Info: This is the’ sixth studio album for American formation Interface. After having released their work on Tinman and Nilaihah Records they now joined hands with Distortion Productions.
Content: I always have experienced the work of this band as an electronic melting-pot, mixing EBM together with electro-pop influences. “Where All Roads Lead” doesn’t sound that different, becoming an eclectic work filled with danceable songs, but still short –and mainly, instrumental cuts. I experienced some songs as driven by future-pop and even referring to Neuroticfish. I also noticed a few minimal passages.
+ + + : Interface is a band I’ve always liked and this new work only confirms the bands skills for composing an accomplished electro production. I have a preference for the most danceable –and ‘hardest’, pieces such as “If Not Now, When?” or the darker “Not With Me”. In the future-pop style I recommend “Fire In The Sky”. This band has a kind of natural talent to compose carrying choruses recovered with great melody lines. This album sounds pretty open-minded and the more minimalistic “We Will Never Be Together” is also worthy of examination.
– – – : The album features 12 songs and only one single cut (cf. “Northpark – Only A Memory”) left me unmoved. Interface remains a band that deserves more recognition and especially here in Europe. I also have to say that “Outside Looking In” released as single title-song is not my favorite exponent from the work.
Conclusion: “Where All Roads Lead” only confirms the talent of Interface, which is an underrated electro formation appealing for lovers of future-pop and body-pop music.
Best songs: “If Not Now, When?”, “Not With Me”, “Ghosts Of Your Ambition”, “Fire In The Sky”, “We Will Never Be Together”.

Why we ask
Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
