Marilyn Manson has begun teasing his thirteenth studio album “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2”, the announced follow-up to 2024’s “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1” on Nuclear Blast, with the new record expected (but not yet confirmed) for 2026.

2026 shows – apparently in support of “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2” – are already on sale though, with tickets available via MarilynManson.com. On 22 November 2025, one year after the release of “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1”, Marilyn Manson posted a short update across his social channels saying: “It has been a great year since the release of Chapter One. Be prepared for Chapter Two very soon.”

The current band consists of Marilyn Manson (vocals), Gil Sharone (drums), Piggy D. (bass), Reba Meyers (guitar) and Tim Skold. Guitarist and producer Tyler Bates, who co-wrote and co-produced Chapter 1, stepped away from the band in early 2026, and it might be reasonable to think that Tim Skold might take the available production seat.

For your info, Tim Skold has produced and co-produced his own projects (Skold, Skold vs. KMFDM), as well as releases for KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, and others. On the Marilyn Manson side, he is credited as co-writer, multi-instrumentalist, and co-producer on the 2003 album “The Golden Age of Grotesque” and contributed writing/production work on several later tracks and B-sides.

Since he often takes on hybrid roles like programming, arranging, and production, it’s safe to assume he might indeed have taken on production for the 13th Marilyn Manson album.

In 2020, “We Are Chaos” appeared via Loma Vista and Concord and became the band’s eleventh studio album.

Following multiple public abuse allegations from 2021 onwards, the band was dropped by its then-label and management, and police carried out a search at Manson’s home as part of a criminal investigation that ultimately resulted in no charges being filed.

After a period with no new releases, the band confirmed a new recording contract with Nuclear Blast in 2024 and issued “One Assassination Under God – Chapter 1” that November. The album was written and produced by Manson and Tyler Bates, tracked mainly at The Abattoir in Los Angeles and supported by an extensive tour including co-headline dates with Five Finger Death Punch and festival appearances in Europe and North America.

“One Assassination Under God – Chapter 2” is set to become the thirteenth album once released. The current lineup includes Marilyn Manson on vocals, Gil Sharone on drums, Piggy D. on bass, Reba Meyers on guitar and Tim Skold.

Karpe Diem Records has announced a new deluxe edition of Marilyn Manson’s unofficial live LP “Dead to the World Live 1996”, due 5 December 2025 as a limited smoke-marbled LP+book set. The new pressing follows the transparent red marbled version, first offered in early 2025 on 299 copies and now sold out. The material is taken from the “Dead to the World” tour in support of “Antichrist Superstar”, with audio sourced from the original live video and the “Remix and Repent” EP.

The deluxe edition is limited to 149 copies on smoke marbled vinyl and comes with an LP-sized eight-page colour booklet, poster and postcards. As with the earlier red edition, the LP sits inside a plain black inner sleeve, while the vinyl and booklet are housed together in an outer plastic bag with sticker artwork referencing the “Antichrist Superstar” tour.

Note that the Karpe Diem editions are unofficial releases, and that the label material itself describes the live LP as a bootleg sourced from fan-market material rather than an official Interscope/Nothing reissue.

The recording documents performances from 1995-1997, using audio extracted and remastered from the “Dead to the World” VHS, with “Dried Up, Tied and Dead to the World” taken from the “Remix and Repent” EP. The tracklist focuses on material from “Antichrist Superstar” plus earlier singles and the Eurythmics cover “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”: “Angel with the Scabbed Wings”, “Lunchbox”, “Kinderfeld”, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)”, “Apple of Sodom”, “Antichrist Superstar”, “The Beautiful People”, “Irresponsible Hate Anthem”, “1996” and the bonus cut “Dried Up, Tied & Dead to the World”.

Released via Karpe Diem and available now is the live Marilyn Manson vinyl “Dead to the World Live 1996”. The release, a bootleg of course, comes in a limited edition of strictly 299 copies, on transparent red marbled vinyl.

The LP-sized 8 page booklet holds high quality live-pictures and photos of backstage-passes from the ‘Antichrist Superstar-Tour’. The audio seems to be taken from the video tape “Dead To The World”, exept for “Dried up tied and dead to the World” which was extracted from the “Remix and Repent” EP.

Marilyn Manson’s official live video “Dead to the World” was released on February 10, 1998, documenting performances from the 1996–1997 tour supporting the “Antichrist Superstar” album. (Photo by Jim Louvau) US indie/alt-rock artist Love Ghost (Finnegan Bell) and Swedish industrial icon Tim Skold (known for KMFDM, Marilyn Manson) dropped their third collaborative single, “Ski Mask” as Love Ghost x Skold, via Metropolis Records.

The track captures a journey through emotional upheaval, dealing with personal struggles like overmedication and societal collapse. Bell explains it through the metaphor of a heist, where the listener is led through haunting, personal revelations.

The single arrives ahead of their eponymous debut album, set for release on November 22. Known for exploring darker themes, “Ski Mask” follows previous releases like “Nightshade and Cocaine” and “Payback”, each contributing to the album’s overall ominous, grunge-industrial soundscape.

Tim Skold brings his iconic industrial background from his work with KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, and Motionless in White. His dark soundscapes are mixed with Love Ghost’s indie-rock roots. Love Ghost, fronted by Finnegan Bell, is an LA-based act blending grunge, alt-rock, and post-punk influences with modern darkwave and emo elements. Raymond Watts, better known as PIG, has released a fully remastered version of his iconic 1995 album, “Sinsation“. Out via Metropolis Records (CD, digital) and Armalyte Industries (deluxe 2xLP vinyl), this reissue arrives nearly three decades after the original, just in time to coincide with Watts’ forthcoming North American tour.

“Sinsation” originally hit the scene on Nothing Records, the label spearheaded by Nine Inch Nails’ Trent Reznor. The album emerged shortly after PIG opened for NIN, and as a result PIG found himself labelmates of acts such as Marilyn Manson, Autechre, and Einstürzende Neubauten.

Watts says this about the actual album: “Every record I make is PIG through a different noose, and when I made ‘Sinsation’ the noose hung high. It was born at Ranch Apocalypse in London, a place where creation and cremation coexisted. I was locked inside both the studio and myself, with only [guitarist] Steve White and a large box of drugs for company. ‘Sinsation’ was the sound of the last card turning and burning. The only way out was through. I had to give birth to the noise inside my head and record it.”

The remastering process was an emotional experience for Watts: “I was surprised and saddened to revisit ‘Sinsation’. Surprised by the energy and invention and saddened to hear the pain. But, I was strangely glad to have visited hell, and blessed that I didn’t stay.”

The original ‘Sinsation’ was a collaborative effort, recorded and mixed by PIG and Helen Woodward, featuring contributions from Karl Hyde (Underworld), Jimmy Cauty (The KLF), Steve White (KMFDM), Carol Anne Reynolds (Sow), and Japanese artists Imai Hisashi (Buck Tick) and Hoppy Kamiyama.

LA music acts Love Ghost and Skold sign to Metropolis Records for their debut album. A lead single, “Nightshade and Cocaine”, will be out August 28. The full album will be out November 22.

2023 already brought the debut single from Love Ghost’s collaboration with Tim Skold (SKOLD, Shotgun Messiah, KMFDM, Marilyn Manson, Motionless in White), “Payback”.

The single holds also two remixes of the title track Mark Hockings (Mesh / blackcarburning) and Chris Vrenna (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson) and was recorded and produced by Jon Bordon and Sjöblom. The mastering was executed by Jon Bordon.

Sjöblom is a Swedish indie project, formed in 2016 in Stockholm by Johan Sjöblom Eliot, also member of Swedish post-punk band The Exploding Boy, and Robert Eklind, previously in the band Malaise. 2 albums have already been released, with a new one out later this year.

The band’s unique sound blends dark metal elements with electronic and techno influences, enriched by industrial noise and atmospheric layers. The single is out via Out Of Line.

Hand Of Juno is comprised of Melissa Bruschi on vocals, Alice Lane Pandini on bass, and Elisa Helly Montin on drums.

“Destroy The Line” is more than just a musical composition. The band explains it as follows: “It’s part of a thematic series set in a fictional apocalyptic world. This world is ruled by the unchecked power of the wealthy, leading to a divided society fighting for misguided ideals. The song serves as a metaphorical exploration of the dangers of unbridled power and societal division.”

Melissa Bruschi, the band’s vocalist, further elaborates on the song’s message: “This song is a metaphor for the challenges we face in today’s society. We must dismantle the prejudices that divide us and speak out against the injustices we witness daily. It’s our collective responsibility to fight for our rights and work towards a better future.”

Hand of Juno emerged in the summer of 2021, rising from the remnants of the previous all-female band, Killin’ Baudelaire. The new ensemble brings a heavier, darker wave of metal to the table, featuring robust guitars blended with electronic and techno elements, industrial noise, and lyrics imbued with apocalyptic themes.

Background Note: Killin’ Baudelaire, founded in 2015, was an all-female band that toured extensively across Europe and the UK. They graced major stages such as I-days 2017 alongside Linkin Park, Sum 41, and Blink 182; Nova Rock Festival 2018 with Marilyn Manson, Avenged Sevenfold, and The Prodigy; and Metal For Emergency 2019 with Anthrax.

Background/Info: “Obverses” is the third and final album by Not My God. This American project driven by  Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, Motionless In White, FLA, Skold) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine) has announced a live tour for the end of the year to call it quits. This is the band’s second album released by Metropolis Records.  

Content: “Obverses” moves on where the previous opus “Simulacra” (2022) stopped. The sound remains a true sonic enigma although clearly infused by Industrial sound components the duo now mixes together with bombastic sound arrangements and then with surprising Ballad style. Deep bass lines, icy sequences and slow rhythms come together in pure minimalism with the unique vocals of Nero Bellum on top.

+ + + : Not My God is one of these bands which has created a very personal sound, kind of Industrial sound DNA bringing different genres and subgenres together. It sounds heavy and bombastic on one side and still subtle and refined and the other side. The atmosphere supporting the work remains cold and even a bit tormented. It’s not exactly the kind of music that makes people happy although Industrial-minded music lovers are going to like it. I’m fascinated by the composition and the style of the band which resulted in a few new masterpieces like “Unwind The Helix” and “Hyacinth”. “Deus Vult” is another masterpiece I want to mention for its more club-minded approach. This band is driven by a true creative spirit which needs a few minutes till you really catch the genius and potential of the composition.

– – – : The sound of Not My God remains a bit of a challenge but it makes me sad such a unique formation finally decided to stop their activities. Marketing wise it’s maybe not the best choice to announce the end of the band while the album is just out.

Conclusion: If “Obverses” will be really the band’s final album it will be for sure part of a great sonic legacy consisting of 3 fantastic albums.

Best songs: “Deus Vult”,“Unwind The Helix”,  “Hyacinth”, “Carnations”.

About Not My God

Not My God is the joint project of Tim Skold (ex-Marilyn Manson, Shotgun Messiah, KMFDM) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine). The pair had previously worked as live members in each other’s bands, Skold as guitarist for Psyclon Nine and Bellum as keyboardist for Skold, before writing and recording together for the first time as Not My God. The self-titled debut album followed on 14 February 2020 on Cleopatra Records, including the tracks “Fiction” and “Sowing Discord”. The duo then signed to Metropolis Records for the second album, “Simulacra”, released in 2021, followed in 2023 by “Obverses”, which the duo has described as their third and final album ahead of a farewell tour.

(Photo by Jacquelyn Trezzo) Out via Re:Mission Entertainment is a dark pop cover by Miss Trezz of the Duran Duran hit “Come Undone”. The single is the follow-up to her previous goth pop release, the music video “Devil’s Daughter”, and is her first release on Re:Mission Entertainment.

“Come Undone” was originally released in March 1993 as the second single from the album “Duran Duran” (also known as “The Wedding Album”). It was Duran Duran’s 24th single overall and the follow-up to the previous single “Ordinary World”. The song was included as a last minute addition to the album, with the lyrics being written by Le Bon as a gift for his wife, Yasmin.

For this cover Los Angeles-based singer / songwriter Miss Trezz collaborated with Paul Wiley (Composer of Terrifer / Marilyn Manson) to offer a synthpop/ electronic rock version of Duran Duran’s “Come Undone”.

“I was drawn to the authenticity and vulnerability of this song as it expressed a familiar unraveling of self when emotions of the heart override the logic of self preservation in romantic relationships,” so Miss Trezz says.

Chicago-based industrial metal act Programmable Animal has just released a video for “Sunset”. The song itself was produced by Sean Beavan who you will know from his work with Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson and 3TEETH.

“Sunset” is featured on their 7-track EP “One Step to Hell” which was released in November 2020 already, so this video comes almost 3 years after the release of the EP itself. Led by frontman Drepsea, Programmable Animal aims “to create a visceral, cathartic, and soulful experience with its audience.”

While writing the 7-track release, the band also recorded with Producer Chuck Macak (Born of Osiris, Fall of Troy, & Letlive.) Following the completion of the release, Programmable Animal signed with the Negative Gain label in 2020.

The Denver, Colorado-based aggrotech act, Clockwork Echo, has announced a tour in direct support of Skold (ex-Marilyn Manson, KMFDM & Shotgun Messiah). The tour begins on July 6th in Denver, Colorado, and ends on July 30 at the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California.

Between 2022 and 2023, Clockwork Echo has toured through North America supporting bands such as Luna 13, Psyclon Nine, and Hocico. On the upcoming tour, the band will be supporting their latest album, “Death Rebirth Repeat,” and will also be debuting material from their forthcoming album.

“Death Rebirth Repeat”, released last year, is an album about loss. Clockwork Echo’s mastermind, Gabriel Ryan, says: “I experienced some severe loss and trauma during that period. My mood ended up descending into hopelessness and self-destruction before giving way to acceptance and renewed strength. With adversity comes the opportunity to rebuild yourself into something far superior than what you had before.”

Update: In the past days and week, this article surfaced as one of the most visited on Side-Line. As a result we have updated it with the latest news on Payne. All ended well for Sean Payne (Cyanotic) who ended up with four broken ribs and a fractured dominant hand, but “all intact otherwise.” By September 9, 2023, he released a new Cyanotic album, “The After Effect,” dedicated to Staci – who lost her life in the car crash – and his brother, and described the record as part of his recovery process. Through 2024–2025 he resumed producing and collaborating with other acts like Derision Cult.

Payne, the frontman of the Chicago based industrial rock collective Cyanotic, was involved in a car crash on Tuesday night. The incident occurred as Payne and his wife, Anastasia, were returning home from the Skinny Puppy show in Minneapolis.

The collision resulted in severe injuries for Sean, who is currently in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), while tragically claiming the life of his wife. As the news spread, a crowdfunding campaign has been launched to support the mounting medical bills and provide solace to the grieving family.

The news of the accident began circulating when a concerned friend reached out online seeking confirmation. Subsequently, a link to an article from KAAL TV, a Minnesota news outlet, was provided as evidence of the incident.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the accident transpired at 6:25 p.m. when Payne, 40 years old, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll several times. Tragically, Anastasia Payne, 51 years old, succumbed to her injuries at the scene, while Sean suffered life-threatening injuries.

Side-Line extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of the couple affected by this tragic event. Our thoughts are with them during this difficult time. Additionally, we send our well wishes to Sean Payne for a complete and swift recovery.

About Sean Payne

Cyanotic was formed by Sean Payne in 2002, the next year they released their debut demo EP, “Mutual Bonding Through Violation” under their independent label, Glitch Mode Recordings. The band’s first full-length album, “Transhuman” ,was released in mid-2005 and featured collaborations with Jason Novak of Acumen Nation / DJ Acucrack. It was followed by the release of a deluxe edition titled “Transhuman 2.0” and the ‘Hail the Glitch 2k6’ summer tour.

“The Medication Generation”, Cyanotic’s second full-length album, was released in 2010 featuring Jamie Duffy of Acumen Nation. The band embarked on multiple tours across the United States to support the album. The band’s foray into industrial and hip-hop fusion resulted in the release of “Robohop”.

Tragically, the release of “Worst Case Scenario” in 2014 marked the final album with guitarist Chris H and co-producer Jamie Duffy, who passed away in July 2012. Despite this Cyanotic persevered, continuing to perform live while rotating band members.

In 2016, Cyanotic’s guitarist Chris H. Left the band. Adapting their live act, the band incorporated synthesizers and drums by Jordan Davis (Relic) and Dan Dickerscheid (Relic) respectively, omitting guitars from their performances. They embarked on a North American tour with iVardensphere and collaborated with Tim Skold (KMFDM, Marilyn Manson) as a four-piece. This period of evolution led to the creation of their fourth studio album, “Tech Noir”. The album was later re-released as “T2” in 2018, featuring additional tracks.

In 2019, Cyanotic welcomed CONFORMCO drummer Jesse Hunt and Nuclear*Sun’s Tal Kliger on guitar and synths, joining Sean Payne in the studio and on stage resulting in the “Trigger Effect” album.

By September 9, 2023, he released a new Cyanotic album, “The After Effect,” dedicated to Staci and his brother, and described the record as part of his recovery process. Through 2024–2025 he resumed producing and collaborating with other acts like Derision Cult.

“Obverses” is the brand new 3rd album by Not My God, the collaboration project of Tim Skold (SKOLD, ex-Marilyn Manson, Shotgun Messiah) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon 9). The album is again blending influences from both artist’s main acts and will be released on May 12th.

The 12 track album will be available on CD and as a limited black vinyl (300 copies worldwide). The vinyl edition will be arriving sometime in June with the same tracks as on the CD.

Not My God was formed in 2020 and so far released 3 albums, “Not My God” (Cleopatra, 2020) and “Simulacra” (Metropolis, 2021) and now “Obverses” (Metropolis, 2023).

Trent Reznor, the mastermind behind Nine Inch Nails, played a crucial role in launching Marilyn Manson’s career, mentoring the musician during his early years. Despite their initial collaboration, the relationship between the two artists deteriorated, culminating in Reznor distancing himself from Manson, who faced multiple accusations of sexual assault.

Origins of their relationship and Manson’s rise to fame

The origins of Reznor and Manson’s relationship can be traced back to 1989, when Manson, then known as Brian Warner, interviewed Reznor for a Florida-based music publication. The two hit it off and remained in touch, with Manson’s band eventually supporting Nine Inch Nails during their Florida tour in the early 1990s.

Manson secured a record deal with Sony Music in 1991, but failed to release any music before being dropped from the label. Reznor then offered Manson a lifeline, signing him to his recently-founded label, Nothing Records, and producing Warner’s debut album, “Portrait Of An American Family”. The partnership continued with Reznor producing Manson’s sophomore album, “Antichrist Superstar”. However, tensions began to grow between the two artists during the recording process, with reports of a physical altercation in the studio. The release of “Antichrist Superstar” propelled Manson into superstardom, exacerbating the strained relationship between the two musicians.

Destructive memoirs

In 1998, Marilyn Manson unveiled his memoir, “The Long Hard Road Out of Hell,” co-written with Neil Strauss. This account of Manson’s life covers his early years up to the release of his third album, “Mechanical Animals”. Within the pages, numerous scandalous anecdotes about Trent Reznor are shared, including one featuring the duo and inebriated women.

The controversial passage supposedly stems from an unreleased interview with the now-defunct Empyrean Magazine, initially slated for publication in 1995. However, due to content objections from the magazine’s publisher, Centaur Enterprises, the interview was never printed. They cited unethical interviewing methods employed to gather information from Manson, as explained in Manson and Strauss’ book.

Reznor vehemently denied the allegations made in Manson’s book, stating: “I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication. I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.” “If certain people do certain things which cross a line of what is decent, I don’t deal with them any more,” Reznor said. “With Manson, that line has been crossed. He said some very ignorant, mean, malicious things. You can believe me or you can believe someone else, but on that tour I was peripherally involved as an observer, and suddenly I’m pictured as the ringleader. It’s just stirring up shit. That friendship was a big fuck-up for me,” he adds.

Reconciliation for a short time

In subsequent interviews, Reznor expressed regret over his association with Manson, saying, “He said some very ignorant, mean, malicious things. You can believe me or you can believe someone else, but on that tour, I was peripherally involved as an observer, and suddenly I’m pictured as the ringleader. It’s just stirring up shit. That friendship was a big fuck-up for me. It fucked me up pretty good.”

The relationship between the two artists briefly seemed to improve in 2000 when Manson joined Nine Inch Nails on-stage in New York. However, the reconciliation was short-lived, and the animosity between them persisted. In a 2009 interview with Mojo, Reznor described Manson as “a malicious guy” who would “step on anybody’s face to succeed and cross any line of decency.”

Over the years, Manson has occasionally addressed his relationship with Reznor in interviews, at times expressing gratitude for Reznor’s early support and claiming to have “no bad feelings” toward him. Reznor, on the other hand, has remained more guarded, telling Rolling Stone in 2015, “We were good friends at one point in the past, and we became not such good friends.”

In a surprising turn of events, Manson told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in 2017 that they had mended their broken relationship. He shared an email from Reznor that read, “It really pisses me off that music’s not dangerous anymore, and it reminds me of how great you were, and I was and the time, the era.”

The past catches up

However, when the controversial excerpt from Manson’s book resurfaced on social media in 2021, Reznor released a public statement reiterating his denunciation of his former friend, saying, “I have been vocal over the years about my dislike of Manson as a person and cut ties with him nearly 25 years ago. As I said at the time, the passage from Manson’s memoir is a complete fabrication. I was infuriated and offended back when it came out and remain so today.”

Given the serious allegations against Manson and Reznor’s strong statement in 2021, it seems unlikely that their relationship will ever fully recover.

About Nine Inch Nails

Nine Inch Nails formed in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1988 as the recording project of Trent Reznor. Working as an assistant engineer at Right Track Studios and inspired by Prince’s practice of playing every instrument himself, Reznor recorded demos alone, programming drums and playing the rest, and performed under a band name despite being its sole permanent member. Nine Inch Nails played its first live show on 27 October 1988 in Pittsburgh, and released its debut album, “Pretty Hate Machine,” through TVT Records in 1989.

Guitarist Robin Finck first joined in 1994 and has rejoined the touring band multiple times since; drummer Josh Freese first joined in 2005. Nine Inch Nails was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on 7 November 2020, alongside Ross, Finck and other past members. Trent Reznor’s Nothing Records signed Marilyn Manson as its first act in 1993.

Background/Info:  Maxx Maryan got some recognition as member of the Italian duo Helalyn Flowers. He also set up his own solo-project Imjudas and released two EP’s. “Yrjudas” is the artist’s debut album which is also available as limited edition featuring one extra disc.

Content: The main influences of Imjudas are clearly getting us back to 80s Electro-Pop music. There’s a catchy 80s Pop touch running through the work which makes me often think of Duran Duran. But there also is an ‘evil’ side in this work which is empowered by harsh guitar play and reminding me of Marilyn Manson.

+ + + : “Yrjudas” is the sonic fusion between Pop and Industrial music. I like this mix which has something original; catchy and yet harsh! The second half of the album features the best cuts and I especially recommend listening to “People Of The Blame (Canned Anger)” and “Origin”. You’ll also rediscover cool songs from the previously released EP’s like “Without Us You’re Nothing” featuring female backing vocals by partner in crime Noemi Aurora.

– – – : Side-projects are cool but often from a lower level as the main project. The first half of the album is missing a climax.

Conclusion: “Yrjudas” is an interesting debut album for its influences and global approach but not a major success.

Best songs: “People Of The Blame (Canned Anger)”,  “Origin”, “Without Us You’re Nothing”, “Outcast”.

After releasing the self-titled debut album “Skold” in 1996 a new album, “Dead God”, was prepared but never released as Skold was recruited by Marilyn Manson to join his band in 2001, touring and producing several albums and singles up to 2008.

That ‘lost’ album has now been completed mastering the album from the original full resolution mixes and is set for release on April 15. A first track “Don’t Pray For Me” is out now.

The Marilyn Manson abuse saga continues as Manson has decided to give his ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood a taste of her own medicine. Wood publicly accused Manson of abuse last year. In response, Manson is suing the actress. The singer believes that Wood wants to put him in a bad light.

Brian Warner, the real name of Marilyn Manson, filed the complaint Wednesday morning. According to the singer, the allegations are not true. In addition, Wood is in his eyes “responsible for ruining his career”. The American singer also believes that Wood’s girlfriend Illma Gore, with whom she had an on-again, off-again relationship, incited her against him to spread rape stories. Gore would also have impersonated an FBI agent and would then have forged a letter stating that the alleged victims of the singer were in danger.

The complaint also states that Wood and Gore created a fake email address that makes it look like Manson sent her pornography. According to Manson’s lawyers Wood also never reported sexual abuse or sexually inadmissible behavior when she was in a relationship with Manson between 2006 and 2010. And Wood also has never reported anything in the years since their breakup. The actress would only have spoken out about the alleged facts after Gore came into her life.

Background/Info: Brandon Smith is back on track, unleashing a new album of The Anix. The album features guest artists Inhuman, Blush Response, Julien K and Interlock.

Content: The Anix moves on exploring the boundaries of Industrial music. The production remains a mish mash of influences, which have been mixed in a coherent and powerful mold. Electronics and guitar are empowering each other while the different collaborations inject some extra influences. The Anix sometimes sound like an imaginary creation between Depeche Mode and Marilyn Manson. 

+ + + : The songs are well-crafted and revealing a top notch production. It’s a powerful sound accentuated by guitar parts and refined by electronic arrangements. The collaboration with Blush Response on “Levitate” resulted in an alluring and modern piece of Industrial-Techno-Grunge. There’s also something to say about the dreamy, emotive and Cinematic acoustic version of “Where Is My Mind” composed together with Julien K. Another collaboration with American artist Julien K. (cf. “Your Lies Are Like Fire”) is another piece I recommended for its rough sound approach.

– – – : The Anix has this typical American sound, which is not always easy to grasp for Europeans. The multiple influences resulted in an original and very personal sound, which however remains hard to define. It’s sometimes a bit too Rock-driven.

Conclusion: “Revenge” is a diversified piece of music, which is hard to label, but easier to listen to.

Best songs: “Levitate”, “Don’t Let The Outside Win”, “Your Lies Are Like Fire”, “Where Is My Mind – Acoustic Live”.

Kanye West, who nowadays goes through life as Ye, is working with Marilyn Manson after all for his new album “Donda 2”. Last year, the two already joined forces, which caused the rapper a lot of criticism since Manson has been accused of sexual abuse by several women.

One of these women is his former partner, Westworld actress Evan Rachel Wood. She accused Manson of abuse and manipulation last year. After that, other women came forward with accusations against the musician. “Game of Thrones” actress Esmé Bianco for instance is sued Warner for assault, abuse and human trafficking.

But back to the musical duo. For his earlier album “Donda”, Ye made the song “Jail Pt 2” together with Manson. “Donda” producer Digital Nas has told the entertainment magazine ‘Rolling Stone’ that he often sees the musician in the studio: “Marilyn works there on ‘Donda 2’ like every single day.”

In a new documentary, “Phoenix rising”, actress Evan Rachel Wood again accuses singer Marilyn Manson of rape. According to the actress, she was drugged with absinthe and abused on the set of one of his music videos in 2007. “He started penetrating me during a simulated sex scene. I never agreed to that,” so she claims. The ‘Westworld’ actress is the ex-girlfriend of the American singer and is also the first woman to openly testify against him.

Manson’s lawyer denies all rumors: “He didn’t have sex with Evan on that set and she knows that’s the truth. (…) Her claim is easy to refute because several witnesses were present during the shooting of the video clip. Wood was not only fully conscious during filming, but was also heavily involved in editing the final version.”

Manson is suspected of assaulting and sexually and emotionally abusing multiple women who have come forward with their story. The singer is said to have a room in his house that is completely insulated against sound, in which he imprisoned, mistreated and tortured women. Manson would have called it the ‘Bad Girls Room’. In the past year, more than a dozen women claimed to have been abused by Manson. Four filed charges.

The Los Angeles police raided the home of American singer Marilyn Manson in West Hollywood on Monday. The raid was allegedly made because of the ongoing investigations into Manson for sexual abuse.

Manson was not home when the police arrived and his door was forced. The officers present had a search warrant with them to allow themselves access to the property. Among other things, hard drives from computers were seized, which will be reviewed before Manson’s case is handed over to the Los Angeles prosecutor.

Manson is charged with assaulting and sexually and emotionally abusing multiple women who have come forward with their story. The singer would have a room in his house that is completely insulated against sound, in which he locked up, mistreated and abused women. Manson would have called it the ‘Bad Girls Room’. Ashley Walters, Manson’s former assistant, says her former employer liked to brag about the room.

In the past year, more than a dozen women claimed to have been abused by Manson in interviews. Four filed charges against Manson. The 52-year-old singer denies all allegations. He claims there is a smear campaign set up against him. According to him, all the sexual contacts he has had with the women involved were with their consent.

Not My God is a project set up by Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, Kmfdm, Motionless In White, Shotgun Messiah…) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine). They last year released their self-titled debut-album on Cleopatra Records and this year joined hands together with Metropolis to unleash ten new songs. “Simulacra” is hard to label, but clearly revealing a mix of influences; the work sounds Electronic and has been achieved with numerous Industrial sound treatments while the result has something pretty Cinematographic-like with Tim Skold’s passionate vocals on top. I’d a chat with both members.

Q: You guys know each other from playing together in your respective bands, but how did you finally come to set up a new music project together? What do you like in each other’s approach of producing music?

Tim: Our differences makes us similar. I know that might sounds a little strange but we are very alike in some of the ways we are different. As humans we do not only exist in a physical sense but also on many other levels and it is in some of those spaces we come together, almost subconsciously, to complement each other. Art is magic, much like a DC Marvel Superhero Universe.

Nero: I think that our individual projects are precious to us so when the prospect of working together came up, a new project was the way to go. An open playground to explore new ideas with no expectations. It almost immediately transitioned from work to ritual.

Q: The sound of Not My God is not easy to define, maybe a mix between Industrial- and Cinematographic music. It however reveals something ‘different’ and maybe ‘visionary’ when compared to other Industrial projects. What can you say about it? Did you have specific references and influences -also lyrical wise?

Tim: We have both done extensive ‘studies’ in the fields you describe above and thought it was time to explore uncharted territory.

Nero: I’m happy to live in an undefined space. To social distance our art from the unexceptional. The further we can step away from convention, the better.

Q: “Simulacra” is an interesting title –and especially considering your sound, as it might stand for ‘the representation or imitation of a person or thing’. What did you try to express by this title? And what do you think about bands, which are just trying to copy others?

Tim: Yes, exactly that and countless other interpretations. It is an ambitious title for a very ambitious collection of music.

Nero: The dead imitate the living. It’s an error in the facsimile. The second coming.

I don’t think about other bands enough to answer the latter half of your question.

Q: How do you manage working together? Is there any specific format and did you notice an evolution from your debut album towards “Simulacra?”

Tim: No! When we start it is a completely open field and it is only when we are on the way we realize what works and what doesn’t. No predefined rules or regulations will be allowed to stunt this development.

Nero: While there is no established format, Not My God has always been about experimentation. There is a subconscious push to do things differently. A song may begin as a patch on my modular system, I might plug a toy piano into a series of guitar pedals and improvise a motif or bow a broken violin through a granular processor. Always recording in the background. What works stays.

Q: What have been the different stages you’d to go through to achieve “Simulacra?” Did you encounter major difficulties and/or challenges?

Tm: Yes, there are many challenges and difficulties on the high road of true art. There is very deep darkness in the unexplored territories of this music.

Nero: The end result is multiple personality disorder. When composing for a specific project I can’t help, but to become the character that lives in that ‘world’, taking on the burdens that character may feel. It can be empowering and it can be devastating.

Q: I can’t get away from the idea your music could be used for a movie soundtrack, which is only accentuated by the different clips you made. Do you’ve specific plans in that direction and tell us a bit more about the clips? Are there new clips in the make for the new album?

Tim: Yes, I think I speak for both of us when I say we completely agree with this. I’d would even say that we know we have created music that will undoubtedly inspire other art including film and that this material will also push the format further and further. We would not mind making clips for every song, but that is of course fiscally impossible for us to do, but we look forward to see what film makers and others do incorporating or at least inspired by our works in the future.

Nero: With film and with music, we both aim to tell a story. It’s a natural marriage. What stories may emerge as an amalgam I’ll leave to the prophets and oracles.

Background/Info: “Simulacra” is the second album by the American duo Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, Motionless In White) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine). They last year released their self-titled debut-album on Cleopatra and now joined hands together with Metropolis to unleash ten new songs.

Content: It’s not an easy thing defining the sound of this formation. It has less in common with the sound of the protagonists’ respective projects. The tracks are however driven by Industrial sound treatments, the tracks remaining driven by slow tempo. The impact of the overwhelming atmospheres is definitely more important than the power of the production. We’re entering an icy universe, which sounds as a darker and icier version of Haujobb. The charismatic vocal parts are sometimes reminding me of David Bowie.

+ + + : It’s fascinating to see how both artists revealed a hidden side of their sonic brain. “Simulacra” is a great piece of music, which is characterized by overwhelming, icy atmospheres. It has something ghost-like and tormented while there’s a lot of emotion emerging from the vocals. Moving in between spooky- and enraged passages, the vocals have a prominent place in this production. Most of the songs have something Cinematographic, but there are a few exceptions. I especially recommend listening to “21 Grams”, which is the hardest piece of the album, but still a true masterpiece.

– – – : The Cinematographic approach of the work makes it maybe a bit less accessible to a wider audience.

Conclusion: Not My god took me by surprise, releasing a real masterpiece. This project has something different in its global approach revealing it’s still possible to compose original music.

Best songs: “21 Grams”, “Mirage Mirage”, “The Underneath”, “Ashes”, “Crisis”.

Thrillsville is the dark electronic solo project of composer/producer Rani Sharone. You will probably know him from his dark cabaret/experimental rock band Stolen Babies or from his collaborations with Puscifer, Marilyn Manson, and TV/Film composer Tyler Bates, to name a few.

Following up on the EP “Say Goodbye to the Light”, released late 2020, Thrillsville has just unleashed his latest single, “Creeps In The House”.

Rani explains what it was working on this new track: “Working on ‘Creeps in the House’ took me to a place I liked being. It evoked nostalgic feelings and proved to me just how much I love to write ghost stories to dance music with heavy guitars and lots of sound design! I just may do more of these.”

As we reported a while back, Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, Kmfdm, Motionless In White) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine) had joined again to record material for their project, Not My God. The pair were no strangers to working together, having both served as live bandmembers for the other’s projects, but Not My God marked their first artistic collaboration, writing and recording together on a studio album.

Coming up now is an all new album, “Simulacra”, holding ten new songs. The first single and video was “Ashes” (directed by Vicente Cordero / Industrialism Films) and was a good teaser for what to expect next.

“Simulacra” will be released by Metropolis Records and will be available worldwide on CD, a limited edition Vinyl and all major streaming services on October 15th.

The last year it has been very calm in the OOMPH!-camp. No online concerts during corona, no rescheduled festival-dates, no new album news at all. The sudden announcement that OOMPH!’s lead singer Dero Goi has left the band, after 32 years being the frontman, reached us today via the official facebook-page of the band. At this moment it is unclear if Dero will start a new project or stops with singing completely. OOMPH! however continues to exist under the same name with composers Crap and Flux and a new singer, who hasn’t been announced yet.

Some time ago Dero posted on social media that he got baptised and also announced that he’s against Covid-vaccinations. His last side-project DIE KREATUR also suddenly stopped after disagreements with Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost) who wrote on 31st December 2020 on facebook: “Not to forget, I have released an album with a side project called Die Kreatur, which I was looking forward to so much, which I have been proud about big time, but sadly short after its release, some circumstances have rendered a continuation of the project impossible. This year I have made new friends. This year I have lost friends – some to death, some to a world of insanity, where I can’t possibly follow them to. Once more I have learned that prejudices are so damn misleading and I still can’t entirely free myself from them. Some people that I liked in the beginning turned out to be real jerks, and some others that really made me shake my head in the beginning became brothers.”

OOMPH! was originally founded in 1989 in Wolfsburg (Germany) by Crap, Dero Goi and Robert Flux. They released their first single “Ich Bin Du” in 1991, followed by the single “Der Neue Gott” and their first (self-titled) album in 1992. The band played in 1993 in the legendary Limelight club in New-York and became “crossover”-pioneers in mixing elements of EBM with groovy metal guitar-riffs, or as Billboard magazine said “Sepultura meets DAF”. Unwillingly they created the “Tanz-Metal” (Dance-Metal) or “Neue Deutsche Haerte” (New German Hardness) genre, which was the German answer on American Industrial-Metal bands as Ministry, Nine Inch Nails, Prong, etc. There is no doubt that OOMPH! has paved the way for many later bands as Rammstein, Eisbrecher and many others.

In 2004 the band received a platinum award for the single “Augen Auf!”, in 2015 a golden award for the album “GlaubeLiebeTod” and in 2018 a platinum award for the album “Wahrheit Oder Pflicht”. The last album “Ritual” reached in 2019, for the first time ever in the history of the band, the number 1 position in the German album charts. OOMPH! (featuring Marta Jandova) won the German “Bundesvision”-contest in 2007 and their music was also used in games (“FIFA”), movies (“Alien vs. Predator”) and tv-trailers (“The Walking Dead”). The band did remixes for bands as Korn, And One, Joachim Witt, De/Vision and others and worked together with artists as Nina Hagen and Apocalyptica. OOMPH! released 13 studio-albums in total and also played as support-act for Metallica, Marilyn Manson, HIM, Skunk Anansie, …

The last years the band was especially very popular in Russia although it’s not sure if the live-dvd with symphonic orchestra, recorded in 2018, will ever see the daylight.

Out on October 15 via Metropolis Records is “Simulacra”, the forthcoming second album by Not My God aka Tim Skold and Nero Bellum. The album is the follow-up to 2020’s self-titled outing as Not My God (Cleopatra Records).

Just like with their first album, Tim Skold (Marilyn Manson, KMFDM, Motionless In White, Skold) and Nero Bellum (Psyclon Nine) have written and recorded the material together for this second studio album. “Simulacra” will hold 10 new tracks.

Former Marilyn Manson and Shotgun Messiah member Tim Sköld returns with a 5th album under the Skold moniker: “Dies Irae”. This fifth album, the follow-to to 2019’s “Never Is Now”, showcases Skold’s heavy metal side backed by synths and will be out on March 5 via Cleopatra Records.

Tim Sköld is a Swedish musician and record producer, who in addition to producing solo work, has also collaborated with multiple musical groups including Shotgun Messiah, KMFDM, Marilyn Manson and Motionless in White.

Loma Vista Recordings has dropped Marilyn Manson from his artist roster in the wake of abuse allegations made by Evan Rachel Woods and four other women (Ashley Walters, Sarah McNeilly, Ashley Lindsay Morgan and Gabriella).

Manson was not signed directly to the label; he instead owns the rights to his last three albums, and licensed them to the label. Loma Vista issued a statement which said they would “cease to further promote his current album effective immediately. Due to these concerning developments, we have also decided not work with Marilyn Manson on any future projects.”

In further fall-out news, he was also axed from the TV shows “American Gods” and “Creepshow”.

On February 1, 2021, Manson’s former partner and fiancée Evan Rachel Wood accused him of abuse. Writing in a statement on Instagram, she said: “He started grooming me when I was a teenager and horrifically abused me for years. I was brainwashed and manipulated into submission. I am done living in fear of retaliation, slander, or blackmail. I am here to expose this dangerous man and call out the many industries that have enabled him, before he ruins any more lives.”

Manson from his side has denied the accusations, and describes them as “horrible distortions of reality… my intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how – and why – others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.”

Ludovico Technique have released their newest single, “Live as Myself”, 3 years after their last studio output which was the single “Absence”. “Reflecting on our current times, this song is about expressing who you are inside, regardless of how society views you or tries to tell you how you should be,” so the band says.

“Live as Myself” was mastered by Stuart Hawkes (Amy Winehouse, Lorde, Ed Sheeran) and will get a video treatment in 2021. Here’s the single to check out.

In the beginning, the band drew inspiration from goth industrial bands such as Skinny Puppy and Marilyn Manson. The name itself refers to the drug-assisted aversion therapy found in the novel and film “A Clockwork Orange”, in which the patient is forced to view violent imagery while injected with experimental medication in an attempt to condition the subjects behavior.

The band’s first output followed in 2010 when they released their self titled debut EP.

(Photo by Glen Burrows) Killing Joke bassist and producer Youth has announced that he will launch a new record label in December 2020.

The Youth Sounds imprint will release a varied array of artists on vinyl, CD and DVD over the next six months and beyond, beginning with “I Have A Voice”, a 12 inch vinyl EP from Vivien Goldman.

It’s a taste of what to expect from Goldman’s label debut album “Next Is Now” which is due early next year. “I Have A Voice” also comes with additional mixes by Youth and Toby Andersen together with a whattodo V’s Massive dub re-work.

More releases in 2021

January and February 2021 will see the release of “Interstellar Energy” an album Youth has recorded with Hawkwind’s Nik Turner, and the Youth Meets Jah Wobble album “Acid Punk Dub Apocalypse” which also includes singers and players such as Hollie Cook, Richard Dudanski, Andrew Weatherall, Nina Walsh, and The Orb’s Alex Paterson.

The label will furthermore release new records from Blue Pearl, Mad Professor, Lee Scratch Perry, Big Paul Ferguson (Killing Joke) and “Youth – Sketch, Drugs & Rock N Roll” The latter is a DVD that charts the life of Youth himself with contributions from Boy George, Paul McCartney, David Gilmour and Alan McGee.

Next Spring will also see the arrival of Youth’s debut album – the first ever solo outing from Youth (aka Martin Glover), the musician, producer and mixer after a genre-bursting career that spans forty years including work with Alien Sex Fiend, Art of Noise, The Charlatans, The Cult, Erasure, Marilyn Manson, The Orb, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Sugarcubes, U2, The Verve etc..

And that’s just a small list of what Youth has been up to. He was for instance – and not many people will know this – also behind Butterfly Records, the label that has produced artists such as Take That, Wet Wet Wet, Tom Jones, The Orb, System 7, Maria McKee and Heather Nova. Hollywood, CA based Industrial band Dead Girls Corp. have released an official music video for their cover of the 1998 Marilyn Manson single “Great Big White World” via Monsterman Records. The cover does not come as a complete surprise as Toddy Deadboy (vocalist of the band) worked for 5 years as Manson’s personal assistant. The video itself was completed by director/DP Stephen Readmond along with editor Alexis Johnston.

Dead Girls Corp. was formed in 2016 by Toddy who collaborates with guitarist Dave Teague, bassist Bruce Miyaki, and drummer Mel McFail to generate a sound influenced by new wave, industrial, and post punk.

Chicago’s Industrial Metal/Rock outfit Programmable Animal have announced the release of its new album “One Step to Hell” on Negative Gain.

“One Step to Hell”, was produced/mixed by producer Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, Slayer, 3TEETH and No Doubt). The band also recorded with Chuck Macak (Born of Osiris, Fall of Troy and Letlive.) at his studio while creating the album. So what can you expect from “One Step to Hell”? According to the label it offers industrial metal with elements of post-hardcore and post-rock.

The album tells a very personal story for Founder/Vocalist Drepsea and delves into a time when his life was flipped upside down by narcissistic and backstabbing people, also the passing of a loved one and almost losing another loved one due to drug addiction.

Drepsea: “This album has been blood, sweat, and tears.. literally. I’ve endured some troubling experiences this past year and a half and the record is a result of that. Dealing with narcissistic backstabbing people, the effects of others using drugs and impacting me, the death of a loved one, & a loved one almost dying due to heroin overdose.. resulting in me having to perform CPR on them (due to cardiac arrest) until the paramedics arrived. A moment like this, when you’re seeing the life of someone slip before your own eyes, you can do nothing but strive through the hardship. I just remember the people around me crying, begging for them not to leave us, in that moment instinct kicks in. Regardless of the panic as their breath was dissipating to the faintest gasp. You don’t stop, keep on pushing. Life is filled with chaos, and it will always keep arising as you venture forward. There is always light at the end of tunnel. Even when things seem “One Step to Hell,” we always have the choice to push forward & make it better.”

Out now is a brand new Marilyn Manson video – “We are chaos” – directed, photographed and edited by Matt Mahurin. The track is taken from Marilyn Manson’s new album, his 11th, with the same title which will be released on September 11.

Manson’s last album was the 2017 release “Heaven Upside Down”. That record had the working title Say10 and was initially due to be issued on Valentine’s Day. However, the release was delayed due to Manson being unhappy with the quality of the record by that date, as well as the band’s touring commitments and producer Tyler Bates’s schedule scoring films. It was further delayed by the death of Manson’s father Hugh Warner, who died during production and to whom the album was later dedicated.

Chicago based industrial rock/metal act Programmable Animal have released a new music video, “Backstabber” as a teaser for their new album “One Step to Hell” to be released later this year. “Backstabber”, the first song off the album, was produced by Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, 3 Teeth, Slayer etc) and is about those who hurt others for personal gain.

Vocalist Drepsea explains: “I’m tired of the polarization separating us one by one from each other. I’m tired of the liars, cheaters, backstabbers, abusers, narcissists, and everyone causing malevolent actions towards others. I am a product that has been lost, backstabbed, abandoned, deprived, cheated, hurt, haunted, and wronged.. though, I won’t allow that to subjugate me. I will keep on pushing.”

The inventors of Death pop, Industrial pop and Dark pop from Los Angeles are back with a new single called ‘Impulse Control’ that can be ordered here. The new videoclip was shot by singer/musician Rizz and Jesse Draxler (Nine Inch Nails, Chelsea Wolfe, the Black Queen) in Little Tokyo just before the corona-crisis broke out.

Dark, doomy, dreamy, cinematic and mysterious is the style of VOWWS. Those elements can be seen again in the new clip. The band states: “It’s a unique time for humanity, the machine has stopped and we’re all in solitary having to deal with ourselves. There’s a lot of anxiety that we can’t really run from. Like everyone else, we’re processing a huge shock and experiencing things we’ve never dealt with before. We’re grateful to have an outlet for some of the angst, it feels like the best way we can work through something this intense is to capture the feeling. A lot of the song came out of nowhere, straight from the void probably.”

VOWWS earlier collaborated with Deftones singer Chino Moreno, New Wave icon Gary Numan, Danny Lohner (Renhölder) of Nine Inch Nails/Marilyn Manson and toured with The Cult in the US. Their first album ‘The Great Sun’ was co-produced by Kevin McMahon (Swans). Last year the band performed in Paris, London and Tokyo on fashion events and recently Rizz and Matt toured the US and Europe as support for Poppy.

Out via darkTunes is the first album of Freak Injection. “Daddys is the devil” is the follow-up to their recently released new video cover of “Toxic” which was released in July 2019. The band’s music is clearly inspired by Prodigy, Nine Inch Nails, Die Antwoord, Nina Hagen, Madonna or yet Marilyn Manson. So, indeed hard to define, but I guess that their own description fits their sound the best: hybrid pop-rock-electro.

The band who after its first single and video “Psycho”, released a first EP “Freak in Fashion” in Summer of 2017, went on an ‘Evil Raccoon Tour’ including opening slots for Vive la Fête and Ministry.

Background/Info: Al Jourgensen is the charismatic pioneer, musical genius, innovator and iconic founder of the industrial-metal genre (the fusion of repeating metal guitar riffs, samples, keyboards and distorted vocals on a danceable beat). This fully authorized visual history with 248 pages of rare and unseen photos, artwork, and other stuff that spans Ministry’s entire career, shows how the band (that everyone wanted to sound like) evolved from ’80s synth-pop, over EBM/industrial to trash-metal. Ministry has been nominated six times for a Grammy award and is definitely a band you must have seen live at least once in your life!

Content: The four-pages introduction is done by Al’s good old friend Jello Biafra, explaining some hilarious anecdotes. Then this limited 9″ x 9″ casebound book is divided into six chronological chapters starting from the early Wax Trax! era (1981) until the latest release “AmeriKKKant”. We get to see lots of nice rare (promo and live) pictures, cut-outs, artwork, flyers and posters. On almost every page there are interesting quotes or anecdotes from befriended artists like Charlie Clouser (Nine Inch Nails), Moby, Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Ian MacKaye (Fugazi), Gary Numan, Perry Ferrell (Jane’s Addiction), Jaz Coleman (Killing Joke), Phildo Owen (Skatenigs), Jeordie White (Marilyn Manson), Alexander Hacke (Einsturzende Neubauten), David J (Bauhaus), Robin Zander (Cheap Trick), Paul D’Amour (Tool), Page Hamilton (Helmet), Scott Ian (Anthrax), Franz Treichler (The Young Gods), Gibby Haynes (Butthole Surfers), Sean Yseult (White Zombie), Dave Lombardo (Slayer), Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top), Till Lindemann (Rammstein), Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission), Chris Connelly (Revolting Cocks) and many more. + + + : We get an exclusive look at Uncle Al’s personal collection of behind-the-scenes pictures together with contributions from band members past and present.

– – – : Although many well-known artists are featured in this book, some (expected ones) are missing …

Conclusion: There’s only one thing we can conclude: Ministry has had a huge influence on many artists and Al is still going strong after all these years! This book is definitely a must have for the fans!

Background/Info: John Bechdel is an American keyboard-player, known for his work with the industrial-metal acts Ministry, Prong, Fear Factory, Killing Joke, Murder Inc, Ascension Of The Watchers and False Icons.

Content: A bit later than expected (but better late than never) we finally present this review. Director/producer Darryl Hell was so kind to send us 3 dvd’s with not only the 2 hours documentary but also 4 hours (!) of extra interviews (including a 50 minutes talk with Al Jourgensen of Ministry), raw footage and pictures. “Killing The Joke: The John Bechdel story” features more exclusive interviews with Burton C. Bell (Fear Factory), Alison Bechdel (FUN HOME / award winning writer), Greta Brinkman (L7, Pigface, Debbie Harry, Moby), Charlie Clouser (Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson), Martin Atkins (Public Image Limited, Killing Joke), Sean Roberts (Wax Trax! / TVT Records) and others. There’s also a lot of backstage footage in the venue (The Fillmore, Washington DC) and on the tourbus, meet & greets with fans, interviews with John in his home studio and we also get to see the other Ministry members Sin Quirin, AAron Rossi, Tony Campos and Cesar Soto. Everyone knows John in their own special way, some for more than 30 years! Those connections are explained clearly without any scrupules.

+ + + : The Director’s Cut features 3 dvd’s and contains a lot of extra footage to watch. Going behind the scenes is always fun and shows another side of the artist. The documentary is also available as digital download (video on demand) on Vimeo.

– – – : Just because of the overload of footage it takes a lot of time to watch all the stuff so one might lose the track a bit.

Conclusion: This documentary shows a clear image of John Bechdel as artist but also as a father, family-man and friend. It is definitely not the usual tour-story that you expect!

Background/Info: The French band is back on track and released two years after “The Ogre Inside – Act I” the second part of their trilogy based on the enigmatic character of ‘Mr Strangler’. It’s all about our darkest thoughts that you allow to enter your mind.

Content: Just like on their previous album, Porn takes off with a real hard and violent song. It reveals the influences of the band, which is mixing metal-, rock- and gothic music. Porn remains faithful to their ‘heavy’ sound, but also brings softer and especially more emotional pieces. This sensibility can be also heard in the production of the vocals, which always remains powerful. The work started a violent way and comes to an end with a more melodic-like final cut. 

+ + + : First there’s the artwork of the album; a great and terror-like front cover, perfectly illustrating the main theme of the album, which also is a wink to serial killers. It matches with the violent sound of Porn and especially their debut song “Choose Your Last Words” is absolutely mind-blowing! The guitar playing is the essence of the work, but I also have to mention the great electronic arrangements. The work has something apocalyptic and tormenting!

– – – : There are a few cool songs featured, but I’m still convinced Porn is missing the ‘absolute’ hit. That’s maybe why they’re still a bit in the shadow of the bands they’re compared with such as NIN, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson ao.

Conclusion: There always is a beast hiding deep inside of us, but with Porn this beast has been awaken and transposed into a blood-thirsty monster… a sonic ogre!

Best songs: “Choose Your Last Words”, “Evil Six Evil” “Abstinent Killer”.

Genre/Influences: Industrial-Metal, Neue Deutsche Härte

Background/Info: Already the 13th album for OOMPH!, the German band from the area of Wolfsburg that exists of Dero (vocals/drums), Flux (guitars/samples) and Crap (guitars/keyboards), and that inspired bands like Rammstein, Eisbrecher, Megaherz and Unheilig.

Content: 11 tracks about war, politics and abuse are featured in this jewel-case edition that opens with the first released single “Tausend Mann Und Ein Befehl”, an anti-war song with a sing-a-long chorus. Fans of Disturbed will like “Achtung! Achtung!” that contains very nice nu-metal riffs and a dramatic chorus. Second single “Kein Liebeslied” has some riffs that reminded strongly on Rammstein, although no Rammstein without OOMPH!. “Trümmerkinder” starts with the sound of a marching army and is a very uptempo song with strong lyrics. “Europa” is a political song with a guest-appearance of Chris Harms (Lord Of The Lost). “Im Namen Des Vaters” is another uptempo rocking song and has an aggressive chorus. “Das Schweigen Der Lämmer” and “Seine Seele” are the only two calmer ballads. “TRRR – FCKN – HTLR” is an opus about terror, porn and nazis, followed by “Phönix Aus Der Asche” that in the end sounds a bit like System Of A Down. “Lass’ Die Beute Frei” was for me the best song especially because of the very nice melodic voice of Dero and the very catchy guitar-riffs.

+ + + : Singer/frontman Dero knows very well how to use his voice in different ways, high and low, screaming and whispering, harsh and soft. The guitars sound very heavy but melodic and well produced. This album sounds more metal than ever before.

– – – : This album is very guitar-oriented, not much sampling and almost no EBM-style elements were included anymore.

Conclusion: OOMPH! still sounds as fresh as almost 30 years ago, when they started their career, and show once again that they are still the leading founders of this genre. Fans of Marilyn Manson, Fear Factory and Rammstein will surely like this album! “Ritual” is also released on vinyl and the limited edition digipak contains 3 bonus songs.

Best songs: “Kein Liebeslied”, “Achtung! Achtung!”, “Trümmerkinder”, “Im Namen des Vaters”, “Lass’ Die Beute Frei”.

Genre/Influences: EBM, crossover, aggreppo.

Background/Info: Tolchock once started in the late 80s as Tolchock 14. They rapidly became one of the early Swedish recognized EBM bands. Together with Cat Rapes Dog, Scapa Flow, Inside Treatment, Pouppée Fabrikk they belong to the Swedish history of EBM. After a break the band got back to business under the Tolchock moniker. The second period of the band has been featured on this album, which can be seen as a ‘best of’.

Content: Tolchock developed a different sound than Tolchock 14. It all became more crossover like, revealing a furious mix between electronics and guitar. The music is still driven by EBM elements, but some songs also moves into aggreppo reminding me Dance Or Die while heavier cuts are even touching ground with metal. The cover version of “I Kissed A Girl” originally performed by Katy Perry sounds a bit Marilyn Manson-like.

A few songs have been remixed and this is an opportunity to discover already new elements. “Kiss Of Death” is carried by technoid grooves. The song “Power Money Salvation” is one of the cuts reminding me the early years of Tolchock 14. So in the end I would say there’s enough diversity featured at this work.

+ + + : This album is a fine selection from songs originally featured at the albums “In The Name Of Tolchock”, “Wipe Out – Burn Down – Annihilate”, “Elements Of Rage” and the EP “Rewind” featuring only cover versions. It’s an opportunity to discover a great band, which has never reached the success and recognition from the Tolchock 14 years and that’s something I can’t understand. It’s maybe because the sound is harder to define, revealing different influences. I’ve been deeply impressed by the power of their work and especially the album “Elements Of Rage” remains a great piece of music. Tolchock has created a perfect fusion between all their influences, which they transposed into a powerful production driven by charismatic vocals and cool female backing vocals. This is a great compilation featuring numerous brilliant songs.

– – – : Tolchock has written several cool songs and noticeable albums, but they maybe haven’t composed ‘the absolute hit’. I think they don’t care and simply compose what they like.

Conclusion: If you never have heard of Tolchock this album will be for sure the right opportunity to discover a talented and efficient band, which definitely deserves more recognition. This is modern crossover.

Best songs: “Man Is Evil 2017 Rmx”, “Kiss Of Death – Rmx”, “Wipe Out – Burn Down – Annihilate”, “Time To Breathe”, “Kicks – Rmx”, “I Feel Sick”.

Kid’s time again in music land. Ex-Marilyn Manson keyboardist Madonna Wayne Gacy has posted a Facebook rant in which he described Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan as “arrogant” and “whiny”. Oh and according to Gacy, Trent Reznor doesn’t like Manson either.

Brussels based goth-rock formation Lovelorn Dolls is back on track. The band’s third album “Darker Ages”, released on Alfa Matrix, is their first new opus in four years. Core members Corpus Christi and Ladyhell went through personal issues, which explains this hiatus, but it also had a positive effect on the global production process. The new work is without a shadow of a doubt their most mature and accomplished opus to date. There’s a brilliant harmony between gothic-, rock-, metal- and pop influences. Corpus Christi and Ladyhell told me a bit more about this new work.

Q: The first album is always something special and magic, the second album is often difficult as you’ve to confirm your potential, but a third album is a kind of milestone in a band’s career! Do you agree with this statement and how do you look back on your career so far? 

Corpus Christi: Well I think the third album is what was meant to be at this moment of our lives. Ladyhell and me went through some personal issues and this impacted the compositions a lot. It is like a catharsis.  Now looking back to the past… Well I’m proud of all the albums we recorded. I cannot say that I do prefer one among the others. Each one of them was composed in the mood of the moment. On “House Of Wonders” there were a lot of more happy songs like “No-Life” or “Euphoria” because we were in a good mood. The themes were more generics and less personal.

Q: “Darker Ages” has been introduced by your label Alfa Matrix as your darkest work to date reflecting personal issues and horrible events of our daily life. Tell us some more about these themes and what do you think about music as a therapy or cure to exorcize feelings of pain? 

Corpus Christi: I’m personally unable to compose when I’m in a bad mood, it’s only when I take some distance with the events related in some songs that I’m able to put them in music. When I had some troubles I had no taste for anything even listening to other people’s music. Then it came back. For me it started again with songs from the French band Kyo. I discovered that almost all the songs from this band are related to sentimental problems, end of relationships and I recognized myself in the lyrics and the music.

Q: “Darker Ages” is without a shadow of a doubt your most mature and accomplished work to date. What do you see as the main evolution(s) and challenge(s) between this work and previous albums and what has been the impact of Maxx (Helalyn Flowers, ImJudas) on the sound production?  

Corpus Christi: The third album was entirely recorded and mixed in my very small home studio. Maxx took care of the mastering. He did a great job in order to give the final touch that was required to enhance the mixes. I wanted to take some responsibilities and so I wanted to have less external input this time even if there are some mistakes in the production.

Q: I’ve been always fascinated by the contrast between music, which is mostly meant to give people a good time or to get them happy and bands dealing with dark themes. But we also know it sometimes happened the other way round (reminding the impact :Wumpscut:, Marilyn Manson ao had on teenagers). I would like to have your opinion on this theme?

Corpus Christi: In my opinion music is only meant to give people emotions, the emotions could be joy.. or sadness.  Also all of the songs in “Darker Ages” are not sad. It’s more like a concept album with the theme: from darkness to light. The order of the songs is important and we took some time to sort them out. In the previous albums we had more ‘commercial’ views I must admit so we wanted to put the most catchy songs first.

Q: What’s the importance to play live and what can you tell us about further performances in Belgium and abroad and will your fans discover new elements on stage? 

Ladyhell : It’s important to play live to meet your fans and reach new people. We are not going to perform this time because the search of live dates is getting harder and harder. We prefer to put our energy in studio.

Q: Kristell, I noticed you’re part of the worldwide community ‘Eve’s Apple’. What is this community all about and how does it work? I also want to get your opinion (maybe experiences) about being a female artist in this music scene (considering items such as sexism, equality between male- & female artists etc)?   

Ladyhell: The community Eve’s Apple has disappeared around 2013, I think, so it’s no longer on the market. I don’t really had bad experiences about being a female artist. It’s the contrary, being a female surrounded by males can be really nice, you’re like the ‘precious’ thing and the guys take care of you (laugh). As the lead singer, you are the one in front of the audience. It gives pressure, but it’s also nice because you have most of the contacts with the fans. I always liked to be surrounded by men only because girls can be really mean with other girls. Actually the only problem I had was with the girlfriends/wives of the musicians… there was always a problem, jealousy issue, … and I was really not the problem, they just missed lack of confidence.

Background/Info: Behind Wiccid is hiding Erie Loch who got some recognition for his songwriting, video, remix and studio work with bands Ministry, Revolting Cocks, Prong, Pig, Faith No More, Skinny Puppy, Front Line Assembly, NIN, Marilyn Manson, Lords Of Acid, Velvet Acid Christ, Gary Numan, Peter Murphy and many more. “By Design” is the debut album of Erie Loch as Wiccid featuring 11 songs.

Content: “By Design” sounds pretty future-pop like and sometimes reminds me of Assemblage 23. But the sound is more powerful than the work of Tom Shear. The songs are carried by solid, pumping kicks. The choruses are powerful and melodic and sometimes revealing icy sound treatments. I also noticed a few softer cuts.

+ + + : “By design” is an accomplished production, clearly revealing the work of an experienced musician. The songs are well-crafted and accomplished with cool sound treatments. It’s a dark exposure of future-pop music, but still a kind of power-pop sound featuring furious beats and solid bass lines. Erie Loch also has a nose to compose alluring choruses. The song “Lights” is a little pearl and definitely one of the main potential hits of this work.

– – – : The few softer cuts aren’t exactly the best ones, but they’re more like bringing a break in the tracklist. Erie Loch is a talented singer, but I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of his timbre of voice. He has a particular and powerful voice, but I’m not a huge fan of it and that’s my single and very personal frustration about this work.

Conclusion: Wiccid simply confirms future-pop is alive and kicking!

Best songs: “Lights”, “Torn”, “Inhuman Nature”, “The grand Comedian”.

No Other Gods have a brand new track “2 Minutes Hate” which is out now, you can check it below. The concept for the song comes from George Orwell’s 1984 “The Two Minutes Hate”, a daily period in which Party members of the society of Oceania must watch a film depicting the Party’s enemies and express their hatred for them for exactly two minutes.

Genre/Influences: Industrial, metal-rock.

Background/Info: French formation Porn was set up in 1999 by Philippe Deschemin. All over the years he was joined by numerous musicians while Porn only released a few albums. “The Ogre Inside” is the third full length of the band and the first one in six years.

Content: The sound of Porn is clearly mixing different elements. The result is what we would commonly call industrial-rock. It’s the kind of music appealing for fans of Marilyn Manson, Type O Negative and related bands. After a rather powerful beginning lead by passionate vocals Porn also reveals a softer side, which even becomes a tiny bit  emotional-like.

+ + + : The opening cut is the right way to put Porn back on the map. This is a heavy industrial-rock like song with some electronic arrangements. There’s a real nice twist between both elements while the enraged vocals are totally matching. The guitar playing is the main strength of this work.

– – – : “The Ogre Inside” is not exactly bringing anything new. It’s an efficient work although a little but predictable.

Conclusion: “The Ogre Inside” stands for a rather successful return of Porn although it’s not exactly an album that will enter into history.

Best songs: “Sunset Of Cruelty”, “Death Does Not Last Forever”.

The #MeToo campaign is having an impact on Marilyn Manson’s band as well. Manson has fired his bassist Jeordie White aka Twiggy Ramirez, after White was publicly accused of rape by his former girlfriend, Jessicka Addams of the band Jack Off Jill. Below is the message which Addams posted on her Facebook page.

The change in personal was announced via a simple tweet reading “I have decided to part ways with Jeordie White as a member of Marilyn Manson. He will be replaced for the upcoming tour. I wish him well.” Manson also added: “I knew Jessicka and Jeordie had a romantic relationship many years ago and I considered and still consider Jessicka to be a friend. I knew nothing about these allegations until very recently and am saddened by Jessicka’s obvious distress.”

White has not responded directly to Addams’ accusations, the only statement he released read: “I wish to spend this time with my family and focus on maintaining my several years of sobriety. I will be taking a leave of absence from Marilyn Manson and regrettably will not be performing on the upcoming tour.”
