Roger O’Donnell (The Cure) will release his new solo album “Projections” digitally on October 29, 2025, with a 180g red vinyl gatefold following on November 14, 2025. An Atmos surround version will also be available.

During 23/24 Roger O’Donnell was inactive due to a major illness. But rather than defining the new album, it made him stop and remember where he had come from and what he had heard and achieved. And as the press EPK nicely says: “The following outpouring sums up a 50 year career on stage and recording music, not to be confused with a full stop it’s more of a comma in his musical journey.”

The new album “Projections” “marks a return to a style not visited since 2010” so the press release reads with the Rhodes piano taking the lead and the Moog Voyager in a complementary role across eight electronic pieces. O’Donnell credits Alka for beats and additional synths which he describes as “a truly natural collaboration” dating back to 2005. Guy Davie handled the analogue mastering while Daryl Bamonte serves as executive producer and long-time adviser.

Roger O’Donnell notes that “Projections” is also his first dive into Atmos: “the music is ideal and lends itself completely to this kind of mix… the Atmos mixes will be available on Apple Music and are totally different mixes to the analogue vinyl mixes.”

Dolby Atmos (in music) is a 3D audio format. Instead of mixing into just left/right (stereo), the engineer places sounds as “objects” in a virtual space (up, down, front, back). A playback device then renders that space for your setup – headphones, soundbar, or a multi-speaker system.

Pre-orders are available now, including offers including T-shirts as well.

About Roger O’Donnell

Roger O’Donnell (born October 29, 1955, East London) is an English keyboardist and composer best known for his long tenure with The Cure, which he first joined in 1987. He previously toured with Thompson Twins (1983–85) and The Psychedelic Furs before being recruited by The Cure, contributing notably to “Disintegration” (1989). After a 1990 departure, he rejoined The Cure in 1995, appearing on “Wild Mood Swings,” “Bloodflowers,” and “The Cure,” left in 2005, and rejoined in 2011, remaining a current member.

Parallel to his band work, O’Donnell has maintained a solo career across electronic and orchestral projects. Early electronic releases include “The Truth in Me” (2006), recorded exclusively with a Moog Voyager, and “Songs From The Silver Box” (2010). He later issued the chamber-leaning “Love and Other Tragedies” (2015, with Julia Kent) and “2 Ravens” (2020, with Jennifer Pague). In 2022, he released “7 Different Words for Love” and scored his first feature with director Darren Le Gallo.
