Minusheart – M6 (Digital/CD Album – Echozone)

The German combo Minusheart returns with their sixth full-length album. The group has been active for several years, but fans have now had to endure a five-year wait for this new release. The band is certainly doing well in Germany, where quite a few live shows are lined up, but they remain rather unknown abroad.
On “M6”, they stay true to their Industrial approach to Electro/EBM, mainly thanks to the guitar riffs that inject an extra threatening and powerful edge. Minusheart stands for dark EBM driven by cold melodies, especially in the choruses. At times, they also experiment with minimalistic sounds. The vocals remain as monotonous as before, which for me is still the major drawback of their work. The voice is nevertheless powerful and somewhat charismatic, but in my opinion, it’s under-produced.
This is one of those groups that I believe has real potential, but the end result never quite lives up to expectations. (Rating:6).

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
