Luigi Porto drop new video for 'Gabor '25' via Respirano Records
New York-based noir-rock composer Luigi Porto returns with “Gabor ’25”, a nine-minute video-single released via Respirano Records. Reimagined from his 2021 album “Tell Uric”, the new version features Porto on vocals backed by his band IDRA, and is available now with an official video and Bandcamp stream.
Originally sung by Nefer Alexandra Linde, “Gabor ’25” is reconstructed as a live studio performance recorded in Italy. Blending English and French lyrics, the track evolves from a chanson-style ballad into a dense, hard rock composition with psych-rock and free jazz influences. Thematically the song explores themes of lost identity and class struggle, rooted in a personal family narrative.
“Gabor ’25 is a tale of identity lost and secrets kept,” Porto explains. The song recounts the true story of a girl sold as a newborn to a childless couple. Raised in privilege, she remains unaware of her origins until a seemingly minor decision ends in tragedy. Her life continues under a veil of unspoken truths, culminating in an early death.
The track’s lyrical themes expand on Porto’s earlier album “Tell Uric”, which focused on the consequences of crossing class boundaries. As on that album, the motif of descent – social and psychological – features prominently in “Gabor ’25”.
The accompanying video, over nine minutes in length (!), merges family archive footage with animated works from Italian painter Giovanni Manganaro. These visuals shift between figuration and abstraction, weaving personal history into artistic narrative. Porto says the animation “infuses the story with physicality and abstract weight,” blurring memory with myth.
