Genre/Influences: Minimal-Electro, Experimental, Industrial.

Format: Digital, Vinyl.

Background/Info: Matthias Schuster (also known from Bal Paré, Das Institut, Geisterfahrer, Lichtjahr ao) broke the silence unleashing his first new Im Namen Des Volkes-work in years. It also is the first work he released by Ant-Zen. This EP features four songs.

Content: This project remains driven by good-old influences from 80s Electro/Industrial pioneers. It definitely sounds Experimental but is still into the typical ‘analogue’ 80s approach of Electronic music. This work reminds me of the glorious days of SPK.

+ + + : Great comeback for this artist which remains inspired and devoted to the sound and magic of the 80s. This is great old-school Electro/Industrial music featuring heavy, blasting passages composed by an artist who was already active during the 80s. You’ll discover great sound treatments with spoken-like vocal parts on top.

– – – : I regret the tracks are pretty short -which however often was quite 80s-minded as well.

Conclusion: Im Namen Des Volkes bring us back to the past and will for sure evoke great souvenirs.

Best songs: “Wellengenerator”, “Welt An Die Wand”.

Rate: 8.

Inferno Sound Diaries
I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.

Since you’re here …

… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.

Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.

If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
