“Dystopia” is the third album by the Italian project Navigator Project, and coincidentally, Alice In… is also the third label they’ve collaborated with, following releases on ScentAir Records and Space Race Records.

I certainly can’t say that “Dystopia” merely sounds slightly different from their previous albums—it marks a clear evolution. The influences are more diverse, resulting in a more eclectic production that can be broadly categorized as Electro/Pop-Wave with a strong 80s flavor. There’s a well-maintained balance between synths and floating, dark guitars. The overall sound is atmospheric, with added depth thanks to the vocal production, which feels particularly rich and resonant.

This is a dreamy album with several beautiful tracks—a highly pleasant new release, in my opinion. (Rating:7½).

About Navigator Project

Navigator Project is an Italian project based in Naples, set up by Amir Sabljaković and joined by his son Daniel and by Caroline Darko. The project debuted in 2020 with the album “Follow The Light,” described by Side-Line as a mix of EBM, Electro-Pop and Electro-Wave. The follow-up, “Breathe,” arrived in 2022 via Space Race Records as a ten-track album with a more mature, detail-oriented production.

Navigator Project returns with its third album, “Dystopia,” released via Alice In… / Dark Dimensions.

Why we ask

Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
