Metatron Omega – Kataphasis (Album – Cryo Chamber)

Genre/Influences: Dark-Ambient, Cinematic, Ritual.
Format: Digital, CD.
Background/Info: Serbian project Metatron Omega is back on track unleashing their sixth album thus far. ‘Scorpio V’ deals with an introspective work resulting in seven tracks.
Content: Metatron Omega moves on exploring dark sonic realms constructed from deep, dark, sound waves joined by humming- and other Gregorian chants. The tracks are evolving progressively into an apocalyptic sensation.
+ + + : Metatron Omega is a project I’m supporting from the very first album “Gnosis Dei”. I like the judicious mix of influences resulting in an inhibited atmosphere of Ritual and Dark-Ambient music. “Revelatio” sounds to me as the ultimate track of this work from which emerges a strong, visual, appeal. Another masterpiece is “Apocrypha” which is driven by some metallic sound treatments and here again moving quite progressively till reaching a climax of darkness and angst. The different chants are quite essential to this work.
– – – : I can’t say that the title track is the least interesting song from the album but not exactly the one that caught my attention while it also is one of the longest cuts.
Conclusion: Metatron Omega strikes back with a true masterpiece and is for sure one of the best albums in the genre I’ve heard this year.
Best songs: “Revelatio”, “Apocrypha”, “Sozertzanie”, “Epsilhos”.
Rate: 8½.

Why we ask
Advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations we have not put up a paywall, and we refuse to add annoying advertising, so we need to ask for your help. Side-Line’s independent journalism takes time, money and hard work to produce, and we do it to push the artists we like, who are equally fighting to survive.
