Vampyros Lesbos – Vi Per Sanguinem (Digital/CD Album – Scanner / Dark Dimensions)

Vampyros Lesbos is a new name in the world of Electro. Driven by Elisabeth Brenner and Ostara M., this female duo presents 11 tracks on their debut album, centered around themes such as vampirism and occultism.
From the very beginning, the group evokes strong comparisons to Grausame Töchter—not only in atmosphere, but also in vocal delivery and even certain lyrical choices-all sung in German. It’s no surprise, then, that Vampyros Lesbos is serving as the support act for Grausame Töchter this year.
The themes they explore are often provocative and occasionally even darkly hilarious. But above all, it’s about the music—and that truly stands out. The harder-edged tracks are clearly club-oriented, driven by EBM influences, while the overall sound remains rooted in Electro-Punk. This is a production without real compromises—a kind of ‘free-style’ expression that at times leans toward bombastic percussion, but is also refined with subtle Pop touches.
Despite the clear similarities to Grausame Töchter, I find this to be an extremely strong and successful debut album. (Rating:8).

I have been working for over 30 years with Side-line as the main reviewer. My taste is eclectic, uncoventional and I prefer to look for the pearls, even if the bands are completely unknown, thus staying loyal to the Side-Line philosophy of nurturing new talents.
Since you’re here …
… we have a small favour to ask. More people are reading Side-Line Magazine than ever but advertising revenues across the media are falling fast. Unlike many news organisations, we haven’t put up a paywall – we want to keep our journalism as open as we can - and we refuse to add annoying advertising. So you can see why we need to ask for your help.
Side-Line’s independent journalism takes a lot of time, money and hard work to produce. But we do it because we want to push the artists we like and who are equally fighting to survive.
If everyone who reads our reporting, who likes it, helps fund it, our future would be much more secure. For as little as 5 US$, you can support Side-Line Magazine – and it only takes a minute. Thank you.
